Is there such thing as to many toys????

I have a 3mo Goffin's cockatoo who entertains herself very well. My issue is that she is very shy of hands still. She loves to give kisses ifour hands are behind our backs, but doesn't like to be held or petted. She has many, many toys and plays with them all, would it be helpful for bonding reasons to limit her toys for awhile? This is my first cockatoo, I have budgies and recently lost my beloved ringneck in an accident, so while I have some bird experience, I have no experience with cockatoos. So far she is much more laid back than my IRN was,but then she is only ababy. Any help is greatly appreciated!

I wouldnt think taking away toys would make her more handable, if anything bored and destructive

I dont know a whole lot about cockatoos, but when she is out of the cage will she take treats from your hand? You could try that to get her less hand shy, I would think eventually she would be curious enough to seek you out???

hopefully someone with more experience than me will reply

She easily takes treats out of our hands, it's just the picking up and petting that she doesn't like. She knows the concept of step-up, but doesn't like it. I guess I will just have to be more patient. We have only had her for 3wks and one of the weeks we took her on vacation. I guess I shouldn't complain about a content G2 (LOL.)
Thanks.

Some birds arent huge on being petted, like mine for example, taking treats is a good place to start

when she steps up i would also give her a treat

if she is flighted you can train her to come, just give her a treat and dont try to pet her, it can be a great bonding game, it shows her she can come and get held and get a treat and not be petted

when she gets really good at it you can call her from all over the house, and it's great exercise

You havent had her that long so just keep working on it

hahaha too many toys???? Tell that to my birds, they'd laugh too.
I think I have at least 20-30 toys, and I feel like I always want to buy more for them. I mean it isn't really a lot, when you think about how many need to go in each cage + toys to play with while they are out + enough to rotate and keep them interested. It's bad enough we stick their food in a dish right there for them, eliminating all their foraging.
