it dosent bother me. but hes out like 8 hours a day and right when i put him in because i have to go some where he does it. when i come back maybe and hour later he is still doing it. im just worried that it could be causing a mental problem for him wanting to come back and no one letting him out.

What time do you try and put him away? Maybe he's too used to going away at a certain time? Try 'shocking' him by putting him away for a while in the middle of the day for a few minutes. He has to get used to going away sooner or later! Don't do what Astrid does and let your bird become a free range bird. hahaha! He (my ringneck) just refuses. I give up trying.

I bet once you leave, he counts to 10 and stops running like that! Then... when he hears your car or foot steps he puts on his "pitiful" face and starts running again to make you feel bad. You cannot see it... but he is laughing the whole time you are out in anticipation!

I know! Sometimes I swear Jannabell "says" to me, and anyone who drops over to visit, "someone put me in a horrible cage! I just don't know why, let me out, will ya?" I will say, Belly's pacing routines did virtually go away when I got her new cage which was twice the size, and has white bars instead of black. She did it once the other day tho, surprised me reverting to that. Sometimes she just dosen't want me to go out. She also resorts to being extra cute, singing, getting real cuddly, when she knows I am about to go out.

Try giving him a little treat through the bars, on a side that isn't close to the door. That might make him happier about being in the cage, especially if you make it several little treats instead of just one.
