I did a search on that mission and came up with the following. I have seen these "jessicacombs" ads in other classified places. Its a scam
.................................................. ......... How do I find out if my birds are really booked on ... Sent to Computer Experts March 23, 2007 2:07 a.m. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- How do I find out if my birds are really booked on Delta Express Shipping from Barcelona to Seattle? They were supposedly put on a flight 3/21/07 which transited through France. The vet there supposedly wants more paperwork this info. was sent by the deltashippingemailThe person who is supposedly shipping them says that she needs help with money, again. I have a communication (e-mail) from <XXXXX@XXXXXX.XXX> Excite is the same company that does the e-mail for the seller Jessica Combs <Jessicacombs@excite.com>employed by Baptist Mission Orphanage, Husband Dr. Ken ph.+23-7648-1022. I have left two messages which have been mentioned in return e-mails. I am unable to find Delta Express Shipping information. They do have a pet shipping service but the international office is closed and I am told that I must send the money now or the birds will be deported back to Spain. I've paid $1200. so far. I do not have a flight number or a tracking number. Have I just been scammed? How do I find out? Optional Information: Browser: Firefox Already Tried: calling delta freight at sea-tac for arrival info. E-mailed seller asking for flight # and tracking # Called delta's central office of pet services. Sent "seller" pets are being adopted...shipping fee and fee for paperwork-$640. then sent $500. for insurance which is to be refunded to me upon delivery Tried to navigate delta's web site(s) Heard that doing an ip could yeild useful information Customer (name blocked for privacy) Status: Closed Value: AU$54 Answer March 23, 2007 3:02 a.m. (55 minutes and 8 seconds later) ACCEPTED -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I'm sorry to say that this sounds like a scam. It has all the tell-tale signs of a scam including the continued request for more money. They would keep coming up with reasons why you must send more money until you stop sending it. International pet shipping is handled by Delta Air Cargo. There is no Delta Express Shipping. Also, all vetenary paperwork has to be completed and everything has to be paid in advance before shipping, so there is no valid reason why they would need more money part way through the transport or why a vetenarian would need more paperwork. Also, insurance premiums do not get refunded, ever. Do not send them anything more, money or anything ese, until they have provided you with the Airway Bill number and you have verified that the birds are in fact in transit on Delta Air Cargo. You can verify it here: Delta Cargo

OK... can I ask a really dumb question?Even if you DID find a great deal and it was NOT a scam... How many people here think it is a good idea to have birds shipped internationally by cargo? I am just wondering. I won't even have my animals ride WITH me in cargo. I just really wonder. I can POSSIBLY see getting a really wild and new color mutation for a breeding program shipped overseas... otherwise... I really think it is rather cruel and unjustified. Those of you that seem to be on a roll tonight can attack me now if you wish... those of you with experience with the cargo sections of planes and shipping of pets can join me in just nodding and smiling at anyone who does. |

please report any scams by using the little white triangle located on the top of each post. Its just about impossible for the staff here to keep up with all the scams people try to post. We do our best, but need our members help as well. thanks!

I dont like the idea of shipping either. Though having said that I was almost in a position last week where I was going to ship an eclectus interstate, but fortunately I found a breeder in my town.
And OMG aviary envy! This guy had the most incredible set up. First up he showed us around and the first stop was two massive aviaries with 10 baby B&G Macaws in it. They were adorable, we had 10 of these gorgeous guys all vying for a scratch, they were so cute, then I saw his green wing enclosure and it was amazing. On stilts high up in the trees and again massive. Down the back he had his breeding pairs of ekkies and the macaws, plus a run of alexandrines. The most amazing place. I pleaded with him to either adopt me or employ me! He goes through 14kg roughly 30pounds of fruit a veg a day for his birds. I was in awe it was my dream home.

I can understand shipping if you MUST within the states... but from overseas?
I personally would have put down a deposit if I was going to get one from across states. I would drive out. See the sites. Drive back. If I could find someone to go-with... all the better! Wow. It is too cold here (Virginia in US) for an outside aviary to be a good investment. You have quite the little zoo. If I pay for the plane ticket and bribe the Homeland security dudes... could you bring me a few rosellas and perhaps nab a nice goffins for me? LOL |
|
|||
|
you could probably bribe the homeland security guys easy since they are not really homeland security, from what Ive heard they are just guys they ran a background check and hired lol they are not actually trained by homeland security isnt that interesting
thats a Bush policy for you, homeland security is a mess, he really shouldnt of messed with Customs

Havent seen any goffins around here?? Plenty of eastern and crimson rosellas and how many sulpher cresteds would you like, have at least 10 regular visitors a day. On bird cleaning day we have about 100 fosicking through the scraps I chuck on the lawn for them, not to mention the galahs and top notch pigeons!!
