Ya know I drove over an hour last weekend to go to a cool bird store I herd about, brought back lots of toys and got the nails done for both my birds. When I was putting the big giant "Cockatoo Delight" toy in her cage she came out and saw the small squirt bottle on the floor and went nuts, had a big old hole in in from when she grabbed it. So I took of the sprayer part and let her have it, she banged that thing in her cage for an hour and had a ball putting holes in it...but do you think she wanted to have anything to do with the brand new toy?!?! Heck NO! Wasn't until the next day she started chewing it. Reminds me of babies in the kitchen pulling out all the pots and pans when they have a boat load of toys!
Mine keep off the keyboard and mouse now, but it wasn't always that way! I have learned to keep them off of it, but I am sure they are tempted!!!
Thanks for the good laugh I needed that!

Oh birdies, ya got to love them.

I've replaced my mouse three times and my TV remote once. Now I keep a small feeder with seeds by my mouse. My Sun Pumpkin will sit and eat while I'm on the computer. Afterwards she goes to sleep on my shoulder.

Mission acomplished.

Well, the laptop that I have been using for the past 8 years is now missing 5 keys! has poo stains down the screen (and yes I cleaned it but it still looks streaked in the light yew!) and the remotes, I have to hide under the cushions in the couch! they're worth it though!

Glad to know we are not alone!

I have a logitech g15 keyboard (it has 18 extra keys on one side). I have finally taught my tiel to sit on them when he decides to groom, however if my pinky movies to much he will start attacking them all. Also if he jumps onto my laptop, (I have an HP with blue touch-sensitive buttons) he will peck at the lights, but if i move my mouse to the lower half of the screen he will start chasing it around.

Also I am on my 5th pair of headphones.. from a tiel who decided to be "busy" while i took a nap....

Oh yes, she wants in on WHATEVER has my attention. I noticed today, she wants to chew the papers I'm looking over, but if I give her a perfectly good similar piece of paper, it's not good enough, I realized finally it's what has my attention she wants. I love her so but sometimes, for her little sake, I wish she wasn't so dependent. She sometimes gets interesting in the keyboard, altho I have to say by and large, being on the computer is one of my activites she tolerates pretty well. Heaven forbid I try to do the dishes without her help! Mostly I have to tuck her into her cage when I do dishes, I guess the sound of running water is just too exciting! (don't have a dishwasher here). She also likes to climb on my lap harp. I let her explore it to see if she would figure out how to make sounds. Sometimes she does manage to pluck with her beak but other times, she just wants to chew on the ends of the strings, um, can we say no... Yesterday she got fixated on my digital tuner for the harp. Very hard to keep it away from her. I like to do my own thing, play my harp, etc, but I also love her and want her to learn things and feel included. Of course if I'm on the phone 'too long' I hear about that too. to be honest it reminds me of when I was very young tugging on my mommas skirts when she was on the phone for long periods. It's like, ok but don't forget about me! To her credit, at 9 months, she also plays with her own toys, play stands, shredding projects, etc. Sometimes for long periods. She's kind of unpredictable like that. Some days she dosen't even want me going to the bathroom without her. Other days, she can spend hours at a time entertaining herself. Life with a 9 month tiel.

None of my tiels care about the mouse or the keyboard except for the babies. I always seem to forget not to get on the computer while they are out. They will jump on the keyboard and peck away so whatever I'm typing winds up looking like jibberish. I also have the HUGE mistake of having a black mouse with a middle scroll button that lights up red. There are many, many times that I am on the computer with a bird (ok I'll be honest, it's Dino) sitting on my hand moving around while I move the mouse and chewing the lit up button between my fingers. On top of that Bugsy has started sitting on top of the computer monitor and leaning down to look at the screen upside down and Ellie is either on the keyboard chasing my fingers and pecking at keys or chewing on the mouse cord. I really should get a video of it one of these days, it's kind of funny. They don't like my cell phone but they love the remote. I tried giving them an old remote that I don't use anymore but that didn't work, it has to be THE remote, lol.

I play bass and would be to afraid of my tiel biting the wood, or the steel of the string. Mind you, he does let me know when I am out of tune, my own personal critic i suppose...

Had to go to a wireless mouse because my tiel kept eating the cords and wrecking them. Now I have to keep my hand on the mouse at all times to protect the scroll wheel, she has demolished one already. I turn all my remotes face down so she doesn't eat the buttons off. I tried giving her her own mouse, but no, she only wants the one my hand is on. She'll sit on the top of the screen also (on my laptop), but it gets annoying trying to read email through a sudden flow of poop. Gross.
