Grey's in the wild DVD

I just ordered this video, has anyone watched it? http://www.avianpublications.com/ite.../itemDVD01.htm

Where the Wild Greys Are: A Day in the Life of Africa's Grey Parrots

by Diana May, Valerie Hovetter & James Gilardi

For hundreds of years, African Grey parrots have been trapped and exported from West Africa to be kept as pets in Europe and elsewhere, leading to potential extinction in the wild. This video tape from the World Parrot Trust includes some of the first sound scientific information about the African Grey parrot lifestyle in the wild and the risks of trapping them for the pet trade. The World Parrot Trust is vehemently opposed to the trapping of any bird in the wild, and is conducting a campaign to ask the European Union to bring a total ban on the importation of birds. A portion of sale proceeds will help fund this campaign.

Here's a video I found on the web http://www.africanature.com/images/greysslow.mov

Hey Mike,

Thanks for posting that. I didn't know it existed. I just placed an order for the DVD and one of the books.

If you get your dvd before me, please let me know how it is.

Speaking of bird movies, how many here have seen Winged Migration?

For those who aren't in the know, Winged Migration is a documentary that some French guy spent several years working on. I can't remember his name, but the film is absolutely beautiful. It has a melancholy majesty to it that both breaks your heart and gives you a much deeper respect of our feathered friends. For more info and customer reviews, click here.

But I will warn you. Do yourself a favor and buy the soundtrack with the movie. You'll probably end up getting it eventually anyway, so you might as well save yourself the wait.

DVD on Greys

The World Parrot Trust video is very good. It's about 20 minutes on the African Grey and then there's a movie on the Glaucous Macaw, about 7-8 minutes, nice for $14.98. The Pollyvision movie is even better, it's about 80 minutes and repeats. There are no cages, people... just magnificent footage of a lot of parrots in the wild, also 14.98. If anyone has a problem finding the videos I sell them at my store.
