I really mean to start a blog on these two. These are my first conures that I have ever had as permanent pets and gotten as youngsters (I used to do a lot of temp foster re-home work). I read that conures are "kittens with feathers" and it is so very true!

I am happy this tale of caution had a happy ending. It must have been terrifying.

Of course, as you mentioned, they probably also learned how to call Mommy when she isn't coming soon enough...only possible because of the happy ending.

It is amazing how accidents can happen to even the most dedicated of owners.

I put the new cage together and transfered them to it last night. I will right up a review of the cage (I know some others were looking at the same model) and the adventure in having 2 birds, an over-eager dog, and a melancholy cat help with construction and interior decorating!

Nope, not fazed at all! Tries to do himself in at least once a day in a new and unique way. His favorites so far (worthy of repeat performances or attempts to recreate) have been:

1) Decapitation by dog who's nose he decided would look better pierced
2) Chasing cat (who is too old and timid to fight back... so far)
3) Running really fast to take up spot on couch just as Mom goes to sit there (thereby trying to be one with the spot on the couch - perhaps he is Buddhist?)
4) Attacking the vacuum cleaner nozzle (we now use the crevice tool a lot!)
5) Falling headfirst into half glass of apple juice because Mom had to go answer phone.
6) Suffocation in down throw blanket from wedging himself so far into a fold of it that he could not get back out.
7) Suffocation by plastic bag that had birdie-toy-pieces-parts in it.
8) Jumping off Mom's shoulder near parking lot and then standing there looking at the bushes while Mom stood there with her butt in the air and her hand in front of him doing an impression from the scene in Harry Potter where he first rides a broom. ("Up... up... UP... UP!")

Disclaimer: I assure everyone that I discourage ALL these things and do my best to prevent them from reoccurring! Or even occurring in the first place more often than not. And this is all AFTER I bird proofed the house and under supervision... just imagine if I left his out all day by himself!

Yep, you definitely need to blog! lol We should all post our craziest bird story, publish it and sell it as a "When this happens to you..." book. With the proceeds, we can all buy a new bag of bird food, a toy and bottle of poop off! Win/win!
