Exclamation tiel talk

Hi
I have a 5-6 month cockatiel and I believe its a female. I would like to know how could I make it at least say ONE word. Just like Hi. I know females dont really talk but do u think if I get the tapes it could work? Also what is a good tape for whistling and teaching how to talk . :eusa_wall
Thank You

Hi, tapes are totally unnecessary. It's just to make money off people. IF your bird decides to say something...and that's doubtful being as it's a hen....she will do it as a result of you talking to her all the time. Every bird I have ever had talked, and talked a great deal because I talked to them all day long. Except my little tiel hen. Goodness knows she did not need to talk as she had no problem letting me know exactly what she wanted, LOL....there's alot to be said for body language!! Like when she was on top of her cage leannnning out toward me and almost falling off was " I'm gonna jump if you don't come get me, I swear I am!!" and she would too, usually breaking tail feathers as she landed. Thank God we had carpeting(she had a very large cage!).
So just talk to her a lot. She may say something, or may not. It doesn't really matter anyway. They have a lot to offer no matter what.
Linda & HRC~

P.S. 5-6 mos. is way too early to expect any talking anyway. Usually it's when they get closer to a year. But that is average, and again, not for hens.

Female cockatiels are not known to be talkers. Males may talk but females usually do not. I have a male and he may say "pretty bird" once in awhile. He just doesn't like to talk.

Our female tiel is not a talker as well..She is still plenty loving and adorable. though our male has aquired quite a vocabullay..
He say:
Pretty bird ( other variations as well: Pretty OBIE or Obadiha (his name) , Pretty Abby( the females name)
Come here
What ya doing
Here kitty kitty

He also whistle :
The wolf whistle
The star wars theme
and several others.

Talking to your birds is the key... as you can tell we talk all the time to our birds..

Fraiser does the wolf whistle as well as saying Pretty Bird once in awhile. I think he is just stubborn. He is the household grouch, too. Gracie, my female cockatiel, doesn't talk but she lets you know when she wants something. She is just the sweetest thing! My Moluccan says "Come Here" and is trying to learn other stuff. It's all a jumble right now.

I have never seen a female tiel talk or even chirp too much. It is not impossible. Just repeat, repeat and repeat the same phrase over and over while she is out with you. If she is inlcuded to talk she will; if not she will not.
