New green cheek conure

Yesterday I adopted a 7 year old green cheek, his story is that hes been neglected for the past 6 years (the lady said so herself) and he used to be hand tamed and very social as a baby but now is aggressive and scared and basically lived a hell of a life until now...he doesnt know what to do with himself...he just sits and watches Marley Halim and Raja play....So far we have crossed the boarder on one issue, he knows I am not afraid and I have been wearing pig skin gloves, flesh colored to handle him. He is more afraid than anything...I need to find a way to make him realize we can be friends, and that he doesnt need to be afraid, itll take time Im sure, but any suggestions....Im not taking the gloves off until I trust him not to attack me...Oh and his name is Caspian now.

use positive reinforcement to make him come to you - take it easy with handling at the beginning, offer a treat when you walk by, talk to him, offer him toys etc.... it might take a while to get over his fear, but he shouldn't be aggressive once that point is reached.

some people have different opinions about the gloves - i personally think they can help. BF wore them for a long time when handling valo; valo we don't even know anymore where they are

From my experience, these guys are voracious... food bribes ALWAYS work (unlike my Sun... who refuses to sacrifice her dignity and would rather eat nothing but pellets and grumble about it if need be!)

I used Q-tips... they worked wonders!
