A cockatiel for sure, for me, if I could pick from just those two. I personally find the tone of most Conure's vocalizations to be unpleasant, but the loudest Cockatiel to me sounds joyful and happy.

Why do you ask?

I have, and adore, them both! The relationships, personalities, and behaviors are totally different. Both want to be with me as much as possible, but my GCC is more of a clown. The Tiels are more delicate and refined! LOL!

GCC! I used to want a cockatiel until I actually got birds.
I don't find them as attractive as other parrots. I don't like to see the cere.
I've heard they're sweet, though.

Don't give up with your tiel! Most cockatiels go through a nippy stage, but with training they can be taught not to. My lutino (who I never properly ttrained) bites but doesn't lunge. I just like her company. My tame/ trained cinnamon bites as well but this is just their way. They're happiest perching and eating so I leave them to it! Yours will warm up in time, since he's your only bird. Just keep on top of that training! 10 minutes 3 times a day. If you want any more info on training pm me, I'm no expert but I've had quite a few tiels since I was 9.

With the baby tiels we let them bite us. Put finger in front of them and say go for it. As hard as it is to not react to the sometimes huge pain they are doing to my fingers I will not move my hand away or make a reaction. After a few days of this they start to realise that biting isnt going to get the reaction they thought it would. To save finger i let them attack my jewellery. Once their aggression starts to simmer they start settling down and become nice birdies after about a week sometimes two. We dont hand feed, we let the parents do that. We bring them in after a week out of the nest. However I do hold them during this period when they are still in the nest to get them a little used to humans before bringing them in. So they are fairly feral when they come inside. Sold two yesterday, one was the sweetest little bird ever, had a cute little twitter when you scratched its head. She trained up really quickly and "crossed the line" from monster to pet really quickly. The white albino one was a little more resistant and will need concentrated effort from its new owners but full of confidence it will cross that invisible line within the week for them provided they are consistant.

IF it was me with that tiel I would probably take it back to the beginning and start working on it again as if it were one of the babies just bought in. With a new one we hold them in cupped hands to our chest till they calm down, then start doing step up training and we do the finger biting thing straight away. The only one it hurts is us. Doesnt take birdie long to realise biting isnt going to get rid of me, and after a few days they dont bite me anymore and by end of the week they are less aggressive and a lot more confident. After training they can sit on my shoulder, nibble my hair and ears and watch tv with me for as long as I want them up there for, usually half an hour or so. Then when putting them backinto the cage I do a few practice retrievals, ie put them on perch them get them to step up onto finger to come out again. Saygood birdie and put them back in. Repeat this for about 5 minutes and then shut the door. This helps train them to come out easily. I find doing it AFTER a training session rather than before a lot easier as the bird isnt as flighty, and has calmed down considerably after the training session. Do it before and they just jump off and start flapping around the cage stressing themselves out. At the end its really calm and doesnt take long before coming out of the cage is as easy as pie.
