Lost feather and Itchy leg
My Caique have lost all the feather on one leg, and bite/pull feathers until bleeding. We then brought him to the vet, and he mentioned about mites, prescriped Tectracyline for 2 weeks, and an anti-inflammatory cream. It went fine in that 2 weeks and i saw his feather gradually grown back, so i stopped all the medication after the course.
After a week or so, condition went bad again, and bleeding again. So we gave him the rest of the tectracyline medicine for about a month, now stopped for a few weeks already. The condition seems stable, but not much feather yet, and he still seems to be very itchy, he always kick or shake his leg, gently biting it.......(no bleeding), i started puting the cream on for a week. Does anyone knows what was happening with him, and what else i should do? Please help! Thanks! |

have you returned back to the vet? did the vet call to check progress?
Was it an avian vet? seems to be something else goin on, maybe internally.

Thanks for your reply, Lisa.....
No, my vet didn't call for the progress, and the problem is.....we don't have any avian vet in the area that we live in, so really worried. It just happen on one side, one leg plus some part under her wing. She doesn't have weight loss for the time being. |
