How late is too late for a shower?

Another question from the not-quite-yet-birdowner. I take my showers at night and get out of work somewhat late (6:00). I've heard you shouldn't shower your birds before bed. How late is too late to include my bird in a shower? An hour before bed? Two? If it can't shower with me I'll just give it a sink shower or mist it in the morning. I was just curious.

Too late is when your bird does not have ample time to dry out before bed. So depending on your temperature and humidity conditions, there is your answer.

If your bird can be completely dry before you put him to bed, then it is not too late. If he will still be wet or damp, it is too late.

I know I don't like to sleep with wet hair either!

I heard that some hairdryers use teflon. How can you tell if yours has teflon in it or not? Mine's a fairly cheap model, about six or seven years old, and I don't have any of the boxes or documentation that came with it.

It's usually recommended NOT to use a hair dryer as it does dry the birds skin out. And that can lead to feather picking which isn't a good habit to start. It really is better to let them bathe or shower in the morning or early afternoon. That is most like in nature. But like with my bird, Skye, no matter how many times I change his water, he will jump in and take a bath, LOL. So I have to be careful as to the time of day. Crazy bird! LOL

I don't know about your particular hair dryer, but that's another good reason not to use a hair dryer on a bird. Teflon or any non stick.
