Here's Rico's tree!

Well, Rico's tree came in yesterday after a nice little fight with the freight carrier! I won't get started on that again. Anyway, cleaned it, put it together, put the bowls in place, hung one of Rico's battered but favorite toys on it.....and....he's scared to death of it! He watched me cleaning it and was falling asleep. I went and got him out of his cage and walked closer to it. I held him against my chest because he's often afraid of new things. Sure enough, I got closer and he was trying to squirm out of my arms. So I went and sat in one of the chairs so he could look at it from a distance. After about 15 minutes I walked back up to it. He was very interested but absolutely did not want to touch it. So he sat there on my arm for about 10 minutes playing with the toy I had on the tree. So, I went and got a peanut and placed it in one of the dishes. I could just see his mind a racin', "Gotta get that nut, Gotta get that nut"! He had no choice but to step onto it. After he ate it, he wanted off NOW! He had that "Get me off or I'm jumpin'" look on his face. :eusa_doh: So, he's in his cage now taking a nap. Anyways, I took some pictures, just wanted to share them with you. I absolutely love this tree. I think it's beautiful, I don't think it looks too bad in the livingroom, and it matches the floor. So, I think I'm gonna go sit on it and read a magazine. Someone's gotta use it! I'm sure by this time tomorrow, he'll be all over it!

OH wow. It is absolutly beautiful. I almost went with something like that but I needed something off the floor because my 3 dogs would be having a feast with everything that falls on the base. Rico will end up loving it. Sushi went to it right away while Max was a littled frightened for a day or 2 but you will see as time goes on he will get to enjoy every single perch. Good luck and thanks for sharing. Mela

That is a really cool looking tree. Tell Rico if he doesn't want to use it, I'll be over!!!! You and I can sit and read together.

I'm sure he'll around in a couple of days. Then you won't be able to keep him off of it.

Beautiful tree of course not nearly as beautiful as Rico. I'm sure with a wonderful Mom like you holding him by the wing and giving him confidence he will come to love your gift!

Love the tree. It looks great! I'm sure he will get used to it in time. If not I agree what was said before , I would like it.... it is beautiful. I would also be interested in looking into getting one. Was it difficult to put together? I must say Rico is beautiful..... nice room too.... love the hardwood floors....
