hahah you're not a fan of frequent high pitched noises. GET A GERBIL!! hahaha seriously, parrots are LOUD no matter what, they will vocalize eventually, and there is NO guarantee that a certain species will be quiet. their job is to be loud and messy, to replant the forest floor, and to reach their flock to communicate. These are NOT domesticated animals. At best, you should consider a budgie... low maintenance, good first bird to own. I'm trying to be honest, here!

You have some great suggestions from above. There is a blue headed pionus at the bird store that I go to that would be my next bird if I wasn't already at my two bird limit so right now that type is foremost in my mind and would be a great choice.

High-pitched and loud are, first of all, completely different.

High-pitched is a lovebird screech. Macaws have a deep, loud call. Much louder than a lovebird, but the pitch is much lower.

There's a big difference between being honest and misreading. I'm all for making sure a bird goes to a good home, kept out of a situation where it will be passed from home to home to home. I've noticed that a lot of bird owners seem to look down on just about everyone who wants a bird, because they mentioned that they'd prefer a quieter species.

And for that matter, no - not all birds are loud. In fact, most birds don't have frequent, loud noises. They have morning and evening calls, playtime screams, and various other vocalizations and flock calls. An improperly socialized or a bored bird can become a screamer - and heck, sometimes even when things are done right, you'll have a screamer - but for the most part, birds are not these constantly one hundred percent noisy creatures.

Your post seemed like an attack on the original poster more than anything. Please read the post well before you start barging in and making remarks. It isn't fair to the people who are trying to gain some actual insight.

I was reading a similar thread somewhere and Brotogeris were mentioned? Any thoughts on those? (Currently trying to research them more, but without much luck).

Edit: Scratch that. My research says probably no Brotogeris.
