Yawning?

Hi everyone, I am new to the forum and just got a black capped caique yesterday. He has settled in wonderfully and is a very friendly little fellow. If anything he is a little too quiet! If thats possible he probley has only made a handful of squawks since we got home last nite. I am kinda assuming that once he becomes familier with us he will come out of his shell .LOL
So I do have a book about caiques and it was telling us what some of the body language means but there was one thing it didnt cover.
Every now and then he opens his mouth really big and it seems like a yawn but he does it for about 20-40 seconds. Opens and closes, and sometimes moves his head like hes choking. Why is he doing this? Any ideas?

Geez thats a simple answer! I was worried something was wrong with him. It just looks so odd. While he is our first bird so its all about learning as we go!
I did buy him from a pet store that said I am supposed to take him to the vet within 5 days for a check up to ensure hes healthy before my 15 day warrenty runs out. Is that really nessisary?

no not really but it is recomended. i dont care about the 15 days because when i buy a bird its for his whole life i dont believe in o i dont like him ill take it back. no they have feelins too and its so stressful on them with constant movements. but no its not necessary but highly recomended for the birds health

I asked my husband what he thought and he dosent think its really nessisary either. Oh dont worry we adopted him for life. The petstore isnt that nice birds are a final sale no returns for behaviour or anything. Just 15 days incase he dies in that time or has a serious illness.
