fed ex lost my new cage

fedex lost my cage. the person i bought the cage from used fedex to ship my cage and gave me a tracking number. ok i get online and use fedex tracking. it said they could not find receiptate. call fedex and they tell me it in their wharehouse . says it has wrong zip code. i give them the correct one. i ask if i can pick it up
will fedex first claims it not on truck and will call me back where i can pick it up. then they claim in in truck to be delivered today. i explain i was told it was in wherehouse so how can it be in the truck to be delivered when the trucks were loaded at 7am and it now 1 pm and was told it was in wherehouse.
he says he will call me back. He says he has to check
they lost my cage.
im out 304 dollers and a cage. there was no insurance on it. seller says he shiped it and wont refund. says if it comes back to him he will ship at my cost. i argue no your add said free shipping and if it comes back i should not have to pay for shipping. he the one that put wrong zip on it not me. told him if it comes back i drive and get it
but so far according to fedex they have not shiped it back. they just plain dont know where it is.
im about ready to cry . i cannot afford a 304 loss errrrrrrrr

Try not to panic. Give them a few days , maybe they will find it. Bad attitude on the part of the merchant though. I would insist he fax me proof of shipping.
Did you get the cage off Ebay?
Good luck, I sure hope you get the cage.

I am sure it will turn up. Best bet is always to ask for insurance and delivery confirmation on anything over $50.00. Grrrr, @ Fed Ex and the seller!!!

Keep us posted, I would like to know that you got your cage. What a horrible day you have had, I really am sorry.

I believe it will turn up too. Give it a little time and everything will work out. It is scary when it happens to you though. We ordered 2 pole vault poles (over $600) a few weeks ago and when they came one had been run over. The shipping company paid for a new one and we had it in less than a week no problem. Stay calm and don't worry too much.

I am so sorry you have to go through this! I know what is like!
Once my mom sent me some stuff from Brazil through a friend and they shipped from Orlando to West Palm Beach (only about 2 hours drive).
I never received the package. So I called UPS and complained almost every day. At that time I worked with a company that shipped all their packages through UPS, so I went directly to the company representative.
Finally, I received the package. My mom had sent a lot of chocolate and typical Brazilian sweets and THEY ATE EVERYTHING!!!! THEY EVEN HAD THE NERVE TO LEAVE THE EMPTY WRAPPINGS IN THE BOX!!!!!!!
I could not believe it! But I gave them a hard time!!! They finally sent me a payment and a written apology!!! (The least they could do!)

Oh well, now I work with a company that use Fedex a lot. So, I called our rep today about your situation. He told me that the person responsible is the shipper. They have to file a claim with Fedex. You are just the recipient.
I don't tink you are going to lose anything. You performed all your obligations according to e-bay rules, and the seller can not prove you received the merchandise.

Hope it turns out ok.

Laika that was very sweet of you too look into that for her. Nurse, at least you know it's not your responsibility now. I know it's frustrating.
I had ordered a table through a design company. The table was coming from Mexico and was told I would have it within 4 months. It arrived 10 1/2 months later. They lost it! When they found it it was damaged and not even in it's box anymore. The design company gave us some of our money back! The table looks ok. It's damaged and hard to see where after the repairs but I know they're there and I have hated the table ever since.
Laika, I can't believe they ate your chocolates! I couldn't fathom! I would have been furious!
Shipping companies, they are the necessary evil. Keep us posted, please.

I was once the 'shipper' for some computer merchandise that was shipped thru UPS. They seemed to have played kickball with over $1000 worth of computer equipment- it arrived at it's destination completely destroyed. We had paid the extra money for the insurance and we still had to fight with them for over 6 months..

I agree that stuff doesn't routinely get lost forever thru these companies..it just may take a few extra days for it to find its way to you. They most likely tried to ship it to the wrong area code and it's floating around there while they try to figure out what to do with it...

A couple of years ago there was a report on shipping companies and with hidden video they caught UPS and Fed Ex employees literally drop kicking packages into shipping bins.

I worked for a print shop for a few years and we always taped boxes being shipped with extra tape to secure the box better and there were still times when boxes arrived at their destinations with the nylon reinforced tape (2-3 layers) busted completely and the boxes broken almost completely apart.

I have found that DHL is not a bad company, especially for larger items.

Try your best to be patient and hope for the best. I can't imagine them losing something that big.
