juvenile gold finch-HELP!!!!

Hi everyone,

my name is grace golding and i am a new member. I work for a veterinary practice in london, uk and have had a juvenile gold finch brought into us yesterday.
It has got all of its brown feathers, black tail and the yellow on its wings are visable.
we are having trouble getting it to eat. we have tried mealworms, seeds and we are not quite sure what to feed it.

Any suggestions as we are desperate?

many thanks grace x

Hmmmmm, if it's fledged already, it should be able to forage on it's own.

I know the adults love thistle seeds (especially in late summer) but I'm not sure about the taste cravings of a Juvi .......

Even though they are a more seed than insect based diet, I'd still try offering some small mealworms & tiny crickets as well.

If all else fails, then you could try one of the commercial formulas for unweaned baby pet birds
