Hi, its my 1st visit so bear with me if Ive posted this in the wrong place!!! My African Grey is 7, has always been in good health, but today she has been sick twice, bought up undigested seed etc. She seems her usually happy self, & is eating her fruit & usual food. Am I panicking, it's just that this has never happened before. Any advice or info, I would be very grateful. Many thanks

well, sometimes birds throw up.... however, 2x in a day without any reasons would worry me (you didn't take her on a car ride, or change her food or anything?!).
i'd go with royjoy's advice - keep her warm and have your bird seen by an avian vet

Has she ever regurgitated for you? Is she just bringing the food up on a perch or your hand or is she shaking her head when she brings it up?

You know, this worries me.... this is at least the 3rd case within the past week (or rather days) that I've heard of a bird throwing up and acting sick...
If it's not regurgitation, I gotta say, see a vet...

There is regurgitation and then there is vomiting.
Regurgitation is controlled and calm, normally a bird will do this for or to you and is basically offering you a gift. Vomiting is quite violent. A bird vomitting will shake its head violently and will often have vomit splattered everywhere and all around the face and head, due to shaking. If you think it is vomitting, then definately do what others have suggested, keep her warm and see a vet asap. |
