Which bird?

Hello all.
You may have seen my previous post about "My Poor Conures".
I don't half miss having birds around. If I were to be honest though, I don't miss the screeching first thing in the morning!!!
If I were to consider another bird, can anyone recommend less of a screecher?
I have had budgies, finches, Rosella, Indian Ringneck and conures over the years.
I'm thinking now of perhaps taking on a larger parrot. Perhaps a grey or Macaw or Amazon?...
I don't know, but would appreciate your thoughts.
Thanks,
Linda

I think the larger the bird, the louder they tend to be. I have 2 cockatiels and a senegal. I just had to rehome my sun due to the screeching :( My nieghbors have a cockatoo and every evening they put her in the garage or pool deck depending on the weather, because she screams every night at that time, and it sounds like she is in my living room. My tiels are pretty quiet and when they do get going, I love the sounds they make. (one whistles "this old man" every time he sees my husband hehe) My senegal is not really loud although he has the potential and every once in a while gets going. But I think that pretty much all birds have the potential to be loud. My opinion though, is it's hard to go wrong with a tiel, to me personally the personality they have out weighs the noise any day! (I love my sennie too, but, he is a rescue I just got and he's a bit mean yet so I don't have the same snuggly relationship with him, but I hope too)

Yeah my tiels are very quiet but when they do get going the sound is a lovely treat :) Don't go for any lorikeets ;) I think a senegal sounds good for what you're wanting, but birds aren't generally quite little beings!

Linda,
I am sorry but if you don't like sreeching or loud then don't get a bird. Especially a large parrot. When my macaw screams NO ONE can hear me talk!

All too's do a morning call and an evening call. Basically they are calling to their flock that it is time to wake up, or that it is late and tiem to come home! It is instinct, and that is what they do everyday USUALLY SUN UP AND SUN DOWN!

Oh, I don't mind the noise per se, just that it would be a factor when deciding on the next bird(s). As you folks will know, conures are a particularly noisy breed!
Thanks for the advice so far x

Id consider a tag/meyers/senegal /pionus .They tend to be pretty quiet .if you can go to a bird shop and hear their calls.

Try a Quaker

I believe that Quakers are birds of a lower noise level. I recently brought home a Quaker and he is the quietest of my bunch. He is just a baby still, but from reading and personal experience they do not make the racket that my Conures do. Good luck!

My tag is pretty mouthy & loud, especially in the morning ... clanging bells & whatever else he can find. His latest sound is a dying cell phone battery beep - annoying! But I would be lost without hearing him every morning.
