That's plenty of time for your bird! Consider how many people work 9 - 5 five days a week and still have time for their bird, and their birds are happy and well-adjusted. Birds do adapt! Your bird will probably doze on Tuesdays. I work from home doing professional illustration and breeding birds. Just because I'm home, doesn't mean I'm available to my pets! I often catch them dozing during the day, playing by themselves or watching TV (Shrek 2 and Ratatouille are a fav for them lol). When I sit down, they all perk up because they know it's -their- time. Then I get flooded by hellos and attention.
My daughter comes home at 3pm from school and her birds get ready to assist her with homework. All are well adapted to her schedule. So, don't fret, you have tons of time for your bird! And, honestly, it's good for them to have alone time!

thanks for letting me know, i though i was going to have a problem with out of cage time for the bird on my hands but squashed my fears. even though i have homework(sophmore year of high school) i can always let the bird out on to the playstand we will have, or let my brother play with him, under my supervision of course. I can also let you know the bird will have a roomy cage too
32" long, 21"deep and the cage part is 35" high, plus the stand the whole this is 59" high

September is tough around here, too. I teach SpEd at the high school, and have 2 teen sons home during the summer.
We're all going back tomorrow, so I've been trying to prep my birds and the dog by being gone for longer bits of time here and there for the last couple of weeks. They've been in their cages a bit longer, too. (not the dog, lol) I always feel really guilty in the fall, and everyone is a little bored at first, but they adjust.

Thats plenty of time for out of cage playing. Weekdays I work from 9am-1pm and usually don't get home until 1:30-1:45. At first I was guilty then I realized I don't have to be around Papaya 24/7..he would probably be so sick of me. So the mornings are for him to chill and do whatever he wants. I think your schedule is fine, when you get your birdie he/she should do great.
