Popcorn Dance!

Just saw the sweet picture of Zorro enjoying his popcorn! He's adorable!

Abbie does the "popcorn dance" quite often.
She gets a birdy dish full of popcorn, then proceeds to enter the dish.
She begins by stomping one little birdy foot and throwing out a few kernals, then the other little birdy foot and throws out more kernals, then it's beak into the popcorn to throw out some more.
She repeats this...right foot 1-2-3, left foot 1-2-3, beak down 1-2-3 and
back to right foot 1-2-3, and so on! :o)
I wish I could get a video of it, though I am sure other birds have learned this art as well!
At first I thought it was a temper thing, but then I noticed she was enjoying herself immensly!

Oh, my best tip for new bird owners??? By all mean, purchase a really powerful shop vac...........one that picks up everything, especially popcorn! :o)

Blessings,

Please give Abbie a big beakie smooch & tell her thank you for the chuckle. She has me inspired to give Shamrock (our GCC) his first bowl of pop corn!!! I know he will be grateful LOL! :icon_lol:

Hahahaha! That's hilarious!

I can only imagine! Sweet Pea LOVES his popcorn too! He only shows much enthusiasm if it's buttered, so he doesn't get it too often! Other than that, he'll only eat plain popcorn if I hold it for him! Brat I tell you!

We have had popcorn parties at ********** for the last 4 years. I fill the bottom of a toddler wading pool with popped corn (about 2" deep) and add some small toddler toys (McDonald, Burger King, etc) and peanuts and mix it all up. Simply insert birds and watch the fun.

I find that the macaws delight in pulverizing it and rolling around in the stuff. I lost our kiddie pool this winter to snow damage and need to get them a new one. Still, buy the cheapest popcorn you can find, and simply add about 1/2 cup to 2 doubled-up lunchbags. You can add a little olive oil, but its not necessary.

It takes a lot of corn to fill a kiddie pool, so plan on using a whole bag. When they are done, simply throw it out to the wild birds and vacuum up the debris.

Popcorn!

Isn't it such a blessing that we take such pleasure in the simple things!
Yes, our birds are very intelligent and sensitive, but thankfully they
enjoy life to the fullest, and always include us in their joy!
Popcorn! Who'd a thunk it could be so much fun! :o)

Outlaw, your birds are awesome! Such a blessing to you and all of us.
I know we all love to hear of their adventures.

Sweet Pea, Abbie says it's not the eating that's fun, it's the DANCING!! :o)

Greymom721, a big beakie-smoochy has been delivered in your name! :o)

That was Zorro's first experience with popcorn. He took to it quite well I think. LOL. Birds are just wonderful companions! My 4 keep me entertained all of the time. I'd love to see a video of the Popcorn Dance.
