Squawkers the Macaw is an excellent bird for all families.

Doesn't piss off the neighbors with a lot of noise
Doesn't make a mess
Doesn't destroy the house
Doesn't inflict painful and/or bloody wounds
Don't have to worry about cage size
Don't have to worry about buzzsawing thru toys
Don't have to worry about costly vet bills
You'll make the animal rights activists happy.

The real question is...

Which is worse? Your kid starting to act like your bird... or the bird acting like the kid? LOL

Well, I finally managed to pull the list together. I originally tried for a Top 10 list, but I couldn't come up with enough birds to fill out the list.

So here's my post, based on your recommendations:

Of the 6 types I own I have to say I prefer grasskeets. They are an all around awesome bird. Bigger and heartier than budgies and a lot less flighty. Calm and love to sing and can be trained. And best of all, they are really pretty. :D

I think Linnies should of made your list. Not overly flighty, or nippy. They are pretty content just to sit with you. They are not overly screechy either.
