Talking November BIRDTALK

I got my new issue of Bird Talk yesterday I think. I was having breakfast when I started reading "Bird Turn On You? Fix Your Relationship" After about 15 minutes of reading, shooing Cricket from my bowl of oatmeal, I put the little Velcro bird in her cage, took two deep breaths, went to Scarley's cage, and done what was suggested and IT WORKED! NO BITES, NO FLUFFY HEAD, JUST COO'S AND SCRITCHES!

Halo:

No need... it is hit and miss for decent articles (IMO)... and you can grab it at your local bookstore!

You might look into Companion Parrot Quarterly and Goodbird. CPQ has back issues available with free shipping and you can search for articles by species or topic! Never found a CBQ without at least 2 good useful articles in it yet! I will have to see if I can find the link in my trillion bookmarks! LOL

It is pretty good for newbies... but there is little in it that you have not seen 16 times over on the web. I will buy it if they are doing a species profile I want. My 13 year old gets more out of it than me though.

I like it mostly for the pictures of the birds lol. Most of the articles seem basic but i keep all of mine just in case I need to check something out or if someone I know decides to get a bird. I keep emailing them saying I want more conure articles.

I enjoy articles by Sally Blanchard, s'bout it. Though, I had to grin at the Maxmillion baby for the centerfold of Nov 08's issue. He looks like a giant green-cheeked lol.

it stated, check your stress, they can feel ur stress. A change in our appearance can give them a negative mood, say a man goes from having a mustache to shaving it off, or hair color or style could disrupt them. They see what we don't see. Moods of their owners. The thing that stuck out most was, "before you approach their cage, take two deep breaths, relax, calm down, don't make full eye contact, peek in at them but ignore them at the same time. Let them come to you. I've gotten ONE bite all day! Which is GOOD for us! LOL
