Angry Fruit Fly and Seed moth Help needed

Does anyone have any idea how to get rid of seed moths and fruit flies.
I've been using fly strips, but I had one of my Tiels escape and land on it. Poor baby lost some of his feathers and was really scared, so was I. We both had a good cry, I don't know who was consoling who.
There is a product at our Zellers called Kitchen fruit fly trap but I'm really nervous about using anything thats not totally natural and safe.
Anyone have any Ideas? What do you use?
I do remove all leftover food but the rotters are still around. All my foods in the house are in large Jars so they can't get in. Yet I still have a problem. Please Help. Joan

For the seed moths. Put your seed in the freezer overnight. That will kill the larvea. Fruit flys open a bottle of wine and poor part of it out. The will go in and cant come out!! Cheap wine of course.

Now I use a Zip lock bag filled with water and tie it up near the door we use the most an it helps keep the flies from coming around as bad... Don't stop all of them but a lot of them.. Plus Wal-Mart has this stuff that you hang up outside thats in a bag that you fill with water and it atracts them and they go into the bag and drowned.. IT STINKS so put it a pretty good ways away from the house that way they will attract to it.. I have used them and they work GREAT. DOn't know if it helped but My thoughts though..

Here's one available at 8 beaks, I think Great Companion has this one too.

http://www.8beaks.com/treats/moth_traps.htm

It's a little different than the one I got last year, but I believe they;re safe.

For the fruitflies, I heard of the wine.

But also a little dish of a few drops of water, dish soap, and sugar mix.

With wine, it's a good idea to put it into a 2 liter bottle.... With the bottle, you cut the top off around where it's the same diameter as the rest of the bottle. Then you turn the lid updside down in the bottle and tape it. Then you poor in less than 1/2 of wine (usually something similar to red wine). They can usually climb down into the bottle but not back out...

The moths... freeze food, use butterfly nets or bottles to capture them if you really want to give rid of them quicker.

I have a seed moth trap. Luckily I've not had any so far, but found a bag with old seed in it filled with the little buggers. We disposed of it straight in the garbage can outside.

You need to call an authorized pest control agent and talk to them. I was liscensed for several years in Georgia. The moths you describe "gypsy moth"can infest more than just your seed. I have witnessed entire pantries infested with these and they will remain until you destroy all the dry goods they have infested. I mean ALL! Any unopened/opened containers of dry goods like ; flour, cornmeal, cake mixes anything in the area they have infested. Is it a closet where you keep the seed?
Fruit flies, you must also destroy all the material they are feeding on. Clean everything you suspect with clorox and water/soap solution. Don't leave any fruit you feed the fids, out for more than a short time (what they can eat in one sitting.) Pour a cup of straight clorox into drains and do not rinse.(or where you suspect they are coming from, you did not say) You have to have a medium for them to remain, and breed which like it sounds like they are doing with this infestation.

yes during the summer months I have a hard time with fruit flies too. I just try and keep the floor of the cage s clean as possible and don't leave fruit in his cage. I take mine out and feed him fruits and vegies in a different room.
