Or perhaps they are very educated and will be lavishing this guy with attention and a good diet?

Perhaps they are thinking the exact same thing as you... "I could help that bird".

And perhaps, being as they have another tiel for a "friend" for it... and a 10 year old that wants to be an animal trainer someday and spends 5 hours a day with his bird...

perhaps...

just perhaps...

It would be better for the bird.

Nahhh... could not ever happen. Right?

Anything is possible I guess... but my kids are six and I can't get them to do anything but play outside LOL I would be happy if the bird were to get a home that will take care of it and I'm sorry if sometimes I come across as thinking I am the only home around here that would/could care.

Perhaps he is even homeschooled!

The thing is... everyone just started immediately jumping to conclusions.

Sorry... my Boss did the same thing (jumping that is) this morning, started throwing a hissy-fit (when I pulled an all nighter), and had NO clue what was even going on.

Stop. Think. Analyze. Hypothesize. THEN you can criticize.

Contrary to belief, and quite surprisingly, there are educated people that are not members of Birdboard. As to why they are not... now THAT is worth pondering!
<feeble smile - all I can manage right now>

Actually... we will do so cleverly. "The art... of not being seen!"

Speaking of plucking and feather health... which IS where all this began. Did I see that you use the red palm oil? What is the deal with it? Is it just high in vitamin A... or is there more to it? Does it really make a noticeable difference in their feathers? And does it make them eat more? Dudders might like it?

I started using it a few years back on advice from a buddy of mine. From what I've seen is that they do like to eat stuff with it in there and I often use it to entice them to try new things using it. It's actually really good for birds (and people too!) and seems to relieve a lot of skin dryness. I know a side benefit of it is that their feathers come in looking a lot nicer, but I dunno if the dende oil is to blame or that I feed a stellar diet.

It's full of antioxidents, in fact it makes blueberries look useless. It's been proven in scientific studies to reduce the chance of heart attacks and strokes, it boosts immunity and has anti-bacterial and anti-parasitic properties among a lot of other things. I'll dig out the big write up that a medical research place did on it.

I will say on a personal note though, I like the taste of it, and I now use it as an additive to olive oil when I cook and it's YUMMMY! lol

Hmm maybe. I usually buy mine online in bulk. Just don't bother getting the stuff 'for' birds. You pay extra for a pretty birdcentric label on the same stuff you can get elsewhere. It's awesome in spicy rice dishes! Red Palm Oil, Dende Oil, whichever. Same stuff.

Is it spicy? Dudders and Rexy are none too fond of red-chilis that are in the zupreem pellets, Tink adores them though!

I am now feeding some Roudybush and a bit of the Kaytee natural (which is all the closest petstore has... no zupreem) pellets. Kaytee has too high of protein IMO. 15%, yikes... that'll get them kidneys working!

Tell me how horrid I am. Not only did I feed them the fruity Zupreem... I "Mad-Hattered" the dishes! Tink likes the green and orange pellets, Rexy the yellow and anything but red or orange, Dudders likes the purple and a few red and orange. So I just threw in an additional 1/8 cup or so and swapped the dishes betwixt them each day! "New cup! New cup! Everyone move one spot down... I want a clean cup!" LOL
