Singers -vs- screamers

Ok I have a question...

Boogie and Chicken do not 'sing'
They holler...infrequently

Wasabi and the parakeet sing. They have certain times of the day set aside to sit, looking pretty and sing away - like this: YouTube - HA! I caught you! (wasabi singing)

do certain types of birds sing? while other species holler?

it sounds like such a dumb question but i dunno the answer lol

I think all birds CAN sing. My Sun hens, when they're brooding will sing to their eggs. It's a quiet musical trilling. Very adorable.

Ozzy screams but it's not always that horrible sun conure SCREAM that most people think off. Actually, he has a bunch of different vocalizations.

His morning scream is two short medium screams (really, calls) that will wake you from a dead sleep. Morning scream = "Wake Up! I want uncovered and my breakfast!"

Three short screams increasing in volume when I'm not in the room = "Hey! Where are you? Come back! Bring your coffee in here!"

Three short loud screams with me in the room = "I'm way over stimulated! I want to fight! Don't touch me!"

Crazy screaming and flapping with water running somewhere in the house = "I hear water! Someone better not be showering without me!"

Insane loud, longer repetitive screaming = "I see a dog/hawk/hat/broom! Kill it!"

Then he has his lower chirps and vocalizations for talking to me and loving on me.

No matter what, Nanday screams make Ozzy sound like a mewing kitten!

I don't have a patagonian *sigh* lol but I do remember one on CL a while ago that was being rehomed because it screamed and the owner didn't realize the bird was going to be loud.

If it helps, Tuck Tuck doesn't scream but he doesn't sing either. He's got his one chirp he does when I talk to him and then he's got his "tuck tuck" chirp (sounds like he is saying his name) he uses when I'm not in the room so that I don't forget about him. He's never screamed or been really loud though. Oh and he has his "ouch!" noise that he makes when I inadvertantly hit a tender spot where a new feather is coming in.

LMAO!

i watched some videos of pattys out in nature (one was some in a tree in HAWAII!) and i can kind of hear some of the noises boogie makes
but overall i think she makes up most of her noises lol
she is quite funny

i just really cant imagine her 'singing'
she does this grunting, woop kind of sound when she is on my shoulder and im not paying enough direct attention to her
like if im breathing instead of looking at her - stuff like that

My ekkies either squawk or chatter, dont think they sing. Booger goes off when the hair dryer and vaccum are running. I think their little chatters are just adorable, they either sound like R2D2 or one of those thing kids blow on at parties, you know those little paper trumpet buzzy things that are cone shaped with streamers at the end. Lots of Arrrr Arrrrrs and RAHHH RAHHHS
