Hooray for donations!!

Ohhhhhhhhh I am so very excited! The people that asked us to take in the U2's (4 year old male (to me still a baby! YAY! and a 12 year old femalem not breeders) due to hubby's failing health emailed us today to finalize the home check (I wish more people adopting/giving away their birds did this!) and offered us ALL their extra cages, food, toys, play stands, and all that good stuff! I am so very very excited!! We don't know all what is coming yet but who cares it will be used and is surely a blessing! She did say she hoped our house was BIG to accomodate all the stuff they have aquired . We just might end up moving our bed out to the barn!

They are going to come visit us on Monday to see the home and the other birds and then we are going to their home the following Monday to visit the birds and make sure they don't totally hate us LOL. The wife is all excited because she gets to see all kinds of birds here... she's acting like she's going to Disneyland (only better of course!) Her hubby really doesn't want the birds to leave but they realize that with his health it's just becoming too much. Very sad situation

aww hopefully they can come visit! I imagine its hard for them to loose their babies. It sounds like they just want the best for them if they are willing to throw in all the bird stuff.

I remember a post on craigslist about a lady diagnosed with late stage breast cancer looking for a home for her 15 year old grey, I feel so sad for people who have to give up their birds for health reasons.

it would be nice if we could get assisted living insurance for our pets too
like if we ever have to go into a nursing home or assisted living facility - you can buy insurance that will cover that or in home care when you need it
how perfect would it be if you could pay in advance for someone to do all the chores for your bird while it still lives with you if you cant do it but can still spend time with the bird each day

*sigh*

im glad she is giving up the stuff with the birds...she could easily sell it
looks like she actually cares :)
such a rarity these days

Oh that insurance would be a fabulous idea!

These people obviously really care since it is a 3 1/2 hour drive from their house to ours... so it's not like they are just going down the road to come and meet us. That fact alone lets us know how much they truly care for these birds. She said they posted them on CL before contacting us and they had several responses but no one they trusted. The original plan was to separate the male and female into separate homes and then when they talked to us, asked us to take in both. They could have probably found someone not only closer and we all know they could have easily sold them and all their goodies. It makes us very proud that someone like that would choose us to trust!

And they (and anyone who gives their fid to us) is welcome to visit us anytime.
