You can also check Petfinder.com; in addition to rescue & shelter postings you can browse their classified section. People who are trying to rehome their pets privately can post there.

Give a call to shelters in your area, too. You'd be surprised how many "dog and cat" shelters have parrots... or at least they will until an appropriate rescue can step in. Check with your local vets. Are their parrot clubs in your area? Sometimes they coordinate adoptions.

Adopting a parrot is a wonderful thing to do :)

Some of the lonliness most neglected birds in the world can be found on Craigs List... just my opinion. You can actually help a bird who really needs to be rescued from the person who doesnt want crap to do with it but has no remorse about putting a price tag on its head. Dont get me wrong, there are some "good" people with "good" intentions who advertise on Craigs List, but most of them arent. I got one of my birds off of Craigs List. He had nothing but a swing and an indestructabell. He was in the basement. Its okay to pay the re-homing fee (birds are expensive to care for). Its one less bird that will have to be dumped off at a rescue facility.

Check with the area bird clubs, depending on where in Central Texas you are. I agree with Kelly on checking Craig's List. Also check out kijiji.com. There are always people on there wanting to re-home birds.

I agree about Kijiji, where I live I hardly ever find parrots on craigslist, but boy are they all over the place on Kijiji. Here lately I have seen some ridiculously low prices on some parrots as well, because people are having to get rid of their birds quickly due to lifestyle changes from the economy problems.
