New bird that won't stop eating

From a previous thread, I just bought a new Ecletus and just got him home yesterday. He hasn't stopped eating since I put him in his new cage. Is this a nervous tick or is something else going on. I don't want to go back to the store where I purchase him because of the owners bad dealing. See warning post. Can anyone give me some insight. Thanks.
James

The food that the jerk made me buy. It's a mix of dried fruit, dried vegys, some seed and nuts. Also at this time, we are slowly putting him on a diet of fresh vegys and fruit.

hmm
i dunno
though i think its probably better that he is eating instead of not eating
lol

i would say give him some time
he may ease up a bit
or he may be a pig like my cockatoo

if i were you i would have him seen by a vet anyhow
that way if you have any problems with the 'contract' because of health problems or something congenital you'll have proof for *sshat

and i would want a check-up anyhow

They say Ekkies eat like pigs lol... I suggest you read more on Land of Vos and consider joining an Eclectus mailing list where you can get support whenever you need it!

Maybe he wasn't getting fed properly at the store also! He might just be starving!

is he really ingesting it or rummaging through it?
because if you didnt know better you may think chickie baby was a pig but she just flings her food everywhere and picks what she wants out of it...very frustrating

Trust me. It's much better to have them eating when they come home than NOT eating. My Scarlet was a little nervous and ate very little for a week and dropped weight. Made me extremely nervous. Now HE eats like a little horse.. he eats more than Newt. LOL

Sometimes I think they eat like that as well because something is missing in their diet that their little body is craving. Have you had bloodwork done on him from an AV? That may give you some insight.

Just continue to give him healthy foods and as Kelly said, What does his poo look like? healthy? Maybe the "jerk" you bought him from didn't feed him enough or the right things?
