I am sick of it!!!!

I am sick to DEATH of moody birds that I cannot blame for being total brats! I am going to pluck them all bald if they are not finished by next Friday... I swear. Do I sound psychologically sound... huh... do I?

One of my favorites from Winged Wisdom webpage:

MOLTING IS REVOLTING!!

A Poem
by Kelley Gile

MOLTING IS REVOLTING!!- I'm sure you will agree...
Honest, it's not snowing, it really is just me!

MOLTING IS REVOLTING!!- I feel a lot of stress...
Good thing I'm not wild, then I'd really be a mess!

MOLTING IS REVOLTING!!- I itch and itch and itch...
This is a part of birdhood I wish that I could ditch!

MOLTING IS REVOLTING!!- I really need some scratches...
feathers flying everywhere, you see my skin in patches!

MOLTING IS REVOLTING!!- I could use a shower...
Ahhh! That's better! I could stay here by the hour!

MOLTING IS REVOLTING!!- will I lose every feather?
I hope they grow back soon, in time for colder weather!

MOLTING IS REVOLTING!!- my new feathers are in quills...
I feel like a porcupine, not my idea of thrills!

MOLTING IS REVOLTING!!- all I seem to do is preen...
I eat a lot too- lots of stuff called "protein"?

MOLTING IS REVOLTING!!- I can't help but be a grouch....
all these prickly brand-new feathers, they're sensitive- ouch!!

MOLTING IS REVOLTING!!-this really is a pain...
What? In six months it happens all again??

Kelley's Note: Kelley has written a number of stories and poems about birds, inspired by her cockatoo and her little daughter..

I'm with ya on the plucking them bald part.... Alfie is really being a bear with his molting issues, poor Rudy just got here and his cage is covered in feathers from his heavy molt (yep, I'm sure it's not plucking), Diddle is nothing but pin feathers and Minga is too... Tuck Tuck is being a baby about the whole thing and can't go five minutes without snuggling up to Mommy and crying (ok that part is kind of cute), I think only Bangers, Pedro, and Marti aren't molting right now!!

Next molt, I'm sending them all to birdie day camp. Wouldn't that be nice??

Cute poem and I can relate. Newt is moody as h*** when he's molting. Wait til they get to sexual maturity and molting. I'm going through that now! UGH! Newt is into sexual maturity and humping his toys daily. Elliot is starting into his almost 2 yr molt of his primary feathers.

That is probably the best thing of taking in "unwanted" fids... I miss sexual maturation!! Of course one day, I WILL have a baby and then I'll get to experience it and I am actually looking forward to it!

Hehe, about half my flock is molting too, and I have one Amazon that desperately needs someone to help with the pin feathers right on top of his head, but of course, he won't let me do it. Sigh, guess he will have to be ugly until the daily showers takes care of it.

lol I love it when they molt. I'm like, aha look at this pretty feather you dropped! and I pretend to tickle them with it before putting it into my feather box.. . later I make earrings.

You guys are lucky, our cherry head does not do baths and does not like sprays now of any kind, and is drawing blood when I try to help him with the pinnies! Wawa on the other hand is an angel. He lets me preen his pinnies and takes baths a couple times a day when moulting.

I don't know what to do with Pepper. I think the crankiness is moulting?? He is even striking/biting my face and eyes area!!!!! He screams non stop to be picked up then bites really hard when you try????
