Tropicana Bird Show

Did anyone here ever attend a bird show at the Tropicana Hotel in Las Vegas? When we got Jazzy, our E2, from his previous owners about a year ago, they told us that the owner before them had told them they got him from a bird show at the Tropicana when it closed down.

I did some searching online and found that there was a bird show there that ran from January of 2003 until it closed down sometime in 2004, so the timing is about right. Here is a link to one of many places where you can still find info about it. The show was run by Tiana Carroll, a former Miss Nevada who is married to Clint Carvalho. In fact, they were each on a different rerun of Pet Star on Animal Planet last week - that is what got me thinking about it again. They have a company called Top Bird that offers bird shows, but I was unable to get in touch with anyone there to ask about Jazzy.

Apparently, they had a few birds that performed but there were also birds that were "greeters" that were in a cage out in the lobby of the hotel. We are thinking that he may have been one of these greeter birds, as opposed to a main attraction. He says "hello" in several voices, including a little girl voice, and will say it to anyone he sees. The day I got him, I went to my wife's tennis club to meet her so she could see him. I sat on a bench outside with him on my arm, and, as we waited, he said "hello" to everyone who walked by! He is also quite comfortable being handled by just about anyone, though he prefers women and children.

Also, when Jazzy had his first checkup, the vet found that he had a chip implanted and gave us the code and manufacturer. We called them and they told us that it had been implanted by a vet in Vegas but never registered. They gave us the name of the vet, but when I called them they had no information on Jazzy or even the chip! My thinking is that anyone who would pay for the chip to be implanted and then not register it must have been doing a lot of them, intending only to register the chip if the bird was lost.

I was just wondering if anyone remembered seeing an E2 named Jazzy at that show. He is very smart, easy to train, and has a very good vocabulary.

It all seems to fit, but I have been unable to confirm anything. Does anybody have any ideas?

I do believe I've seen the show, and if I recall correctly, they had a cockatoo, a B&G, and a hybrid macaw performing. (could be wrong, didn't get any pics and it was about 5 years ago). I only saw performing birds though, no greeters...
