big new cage and new fids

Thought it was time I showed you my big new cage (well indoor aviary really)- its 4ft long, by 2ft deep by nearly 6ft tall (inc stand)

AND the two latest additions to the flock (as yet unnamed)

Hopefully from their behaviour they are a male & female, about 12 weeks old.

Need to add them to my sig file when they have names

Budgies look like males to me!

Lovely cage! Although I don't particularly care for split bottom trays...

They do both look like little boys. Cute tho! Nice cage. Do yourself a favor and lay a piece of paper over the split. They also look older than 12 weeks and the green one needs a beak trim.

Thanks all, I don't mind the split bottom, and the central piece is quite easy to clean. Difficult to cover when you have a Kakariki in there who scratches like a chicken.
Thanks for the query on the ages- I must admit I was doubtful because neither have bar heads, but they are very small. I will keep an eye on the beak on the green one- don't really want to submit him to any more stress at present- he's eating well.
They are very close and are never far from each other, lots of beak touching and general cuddling up, they were like that when I got them- which is really the reason I got two- (I was only going to get one).
We'll see how things go- but I don't anticipate any problems. Tui is still the boss.

They are all so cute. Its not just the barring of the head but the fact the ceres are already so blue and and the beak being too long is not indicitive of a baby. A male baby budgie's cere that turns so strong a blue is usually a BRIGHT pink when they are under six months old. They can become sexually mature at six months when the beak turns blue. Also, unless there is some serious medical issue he has not been alive long enough for an overgrown beak like that. Baby beaks are soft. Another noticable marking is the chin spots which get more pronounced and "more of them" with age. Just some things to look into. Males raised together will cuddle.

Thanks Huntress, it sounds as if the people I got them from have slightly misled me- which is the first time ever, I shall have to have words with them.
But Never mind all the doubts, they're gorgeous and singing so sweetly- they're not going anywhere.
As it seems I might have two boys, then I'm going to show my age and name them after "the Flowerpot men" - so they're Bill & Ben (Bill being the blue, and Ben the green).
They've settled in so well and are not scared of any of the others. Bill tried broccoli this afternoon but was not impressed, but did seem to like carrot.

Are you going to put toys further down? That is a lot of fun room for toys! I have my toys and perches all the way down and Chipper is all over the flight cage.
