Met my first parrot Sam when I was about 8, he was a greenwinged macaw in a pet store. Visited him all the time and got my own first birds about a year or 2 later because of him. 2 parakeets. When I got older and married I got my first parrot an african grey who i've had for about 8 years. The others follwed soon after.

About 7 years I've had birds.....I started with one blue parakeet named Boo Boo and in about a months time got him a girlfriend named Yogi. Probably about a year after that I got my first Tiel and raised him(he's 6 now) and sadly Boo Boo died about 4 months after that. I ended up rehomind Yogi to a friend of mine.
I still have my little Tiel and now a Sun Conure

People just don't know what they're missing!

That's funny that with most people they start out with 1 or 2 and end up with 10.... I can see how it happens..... you just want to take them all home!
omg i totally feel the same way

I got my first bird, Willow, a bit over 5 years ago in June of 2003. The second, Aspen, in Sept. 2003, the third, Mulberry, in Dec. 2003, the 4th, Cypress, in Feb. 2004 and the 5th, Maple, in Feb. of 2005.

Willow came to be as a foster at the approximate age of 2 weeks. I learned to handfeed her and watched her grow up to be a little Orange Wing Amazon. You can read her story and watch her grow up through photos on my website in my signature.

I had budgies when I was growing up. Just found out a couple of years ago that one I was told "escaped" actually died so I was heartbroken all over again!!!
We've now had Chirpy since April this year and don't think I will ever be birdless again. Just have to persaude the other half to let me have more!!!

I've worked with birds for the past 6 years (through a local rescue and boarding facility), but my parents kept me from getting one until I was 18 (when I brought one home and didn't allow NO to be an answer...not recommended, but she didn't have anywhere else to go).

Sweety, my 4-year-old lutino female cockatiel, I've had for 3 years now. Lily, my 12-year-old female meyers parrot, has been with my since april, and my latest addition came home last week, an 8-year-old cinnamon female cockatiel named Zasu. I still haven't officially adopted her (boarding her on a trial basis from her previous home, they're allergic to her and traveling too much).

I can't imagine a life without my girls. They bring me so much joy and happiness.
