Bird Safe space heaters?

It is starting to get cold here in our neck of the woods, especially at night. I have a heat panel arriving for Ozzy tomorrow. In the mean time, I put a light bulb on his cage since he has been freezing his tail feathers off! He seems to have perked up a bit since I did that. Once he gets the heat panel on him, he'll be set. But what about his people? Does anyone know of any bird safe space heaters? How do I find out if a space heater is approved to be used around birds? And what about fire logs? Are they safe? The ones like these...
Ace - Ace Tree: Heating & Cooling: Fireplaces & Stoves: Fire Logs & Fire Starters: Starterlogg® Wood Fire Starter (SL12350) - 24 Pack

Thank You!

Pam

I have one sort of like this, but black and a different brand.

It works well, and I think it's perfectly safe to use around the birds.
I paid around $100 though, kind of expensive.

I've been looking for a space heater as well and from what I've read the oil filled radiator type is the best to get. They stay warmer longer as well so they are supposed to be the most energy efficent to run. I have contacted DeLonghi and Honeywell (those are the 2 readily available brands by me) and they do not use any teflon or PTFE in them and they are pretty reasonably priced, around $40-$65. I'm still going to run mine far away from the birds until it gets that new smell off though.

Another thing about the oil filled radiator type heaters is that they're relatively cool to the touch - i'd say a max of about 150°F so you don't have to worry about burns with children, feathered or unfeathered. I've actually stuck my feet in between the fins of one to warm them up

I often see DeLonghi recommended by bird owners :) I'm thinking of getting one to have on hand in case something happens with the heat in my building. I've only had two instances where the heater didn't work but better safe than sorry!

we have a gas furnace, and hubby and I were talking last night about space heaters for the house. This will be the first time we use them to see if it makes any difference with our bills. Of course we will still have the furance on, but set on low. I am a person that likes it warm in the house, i dont like to bundle up if i cant help it. I like my house set around 72 all times.
