New...and I think I've made a decision!
I am adventuring into the world of birds. I had been researching different species and I've been thinking about the GCC. Friends of mine have a breeding pair currently sitting on eggs which are due to start hatching by the end of the month. I would have the privledge of seeing them grow the whole time, as they also live next to me as well. If anyone has any advice or knows of a great site to learn even more that would be great. I have been looking up many things however I'm sure there are many owners on here who may have a favorite website or two about the GCC's.
I hope I put this is the correct section, if not I apologize. Thanks Jo |

I think a good half of us have GCCs! I have one that is "my daughter's".
Your life will never be the same. Nor dull. Painful perhaps. Exasperating certainly. But never dull. LOL Seriously... they really are fun little guys. And if your kids are not teenagers yet... it will prepare you for that. If they are... make them play with the little bugger... most teens and GCCs deserve each other (and learn a great deal from the interaction. At least the teens learn... I think GCCs are mostly incorrigible).

My daughter is a little young, she'll actually be 3 this friday. The smaller birds scare her for some reason, she however has no fear holding our friends african greys though. Maybe the GCC will help her with that...maybe not. My son who just turned 8 loves the birds, but as it goes with children, the novelty will fade I'm sure. I did not realize how popular they are!

Only problem is that they can be a bit nippy... not sure if I would recommend a 3 year old handle one. They rarely bite hard enough to break skin... but can deliver a wicked pinch!

Thanks for the website! I read somewhere, when bringing home a new baby, you can continue the bonding process by feeding small amounts of warm oatmeal at night before bedtime. Is this something anyone has heard of, or tried?
Thanks Jo |
