The past few days...

This is how life has been!

He's 3 months old and still hand-feeding. My vet friend contacted me, asking if I would take an unweaned Macaw surrendered to his office by someone who bought him 'cheap because he wasn't weaned'. That person couldn't feed him and when she got frustrated, just set out food in a bowl for him. When he got weak enough and loud enough crying, the lady surrendered him. I told him sure I would take him, as long as he did a work up on the bird. So, the vet did the tests on him, fed him up some, and now I have the kiddo to finish out.

Needless to say, when I wistfully mentioned I only had room in my life for 'one more macaw', I didn't think it would be fulfilled and chosen FOR me so fast.

Now I have to think of a name for this goose! Any suggestions? If I can't think of anything, I'll name him Kumquat like I promised earlier! LOL

See, I thought so too, but the daughter drew the line. Said he wasn't 'mushy looking'. ..mushy? lol She wants to name him Tiko. I told her no, we have a Tigo. ...A very, very jealous Tigo. So then she wanted to name him Piwacket. So, I ran for help here! LOL

He's massive. I think he grows bigger each time I look at him. I just weighed the bugger and he's 2.45 lbs now ...and I can still feel his breast bone in that 'under weight' kinda way. When my vet friend took him in, he was about 1.5 lbs... and that was 2 weeks ago! He's a moose! I'm thinking of getting a saddle, because if he keeps growing, I'll be riding him.

But, omg... I was just going to finish his weaning up and then adopt him out, but he looks at me with those blue eyes and snuggles ...and falls asleep and sucks on his toes when he sleeps and... yeah. I was sunk.

I actually said "Tom". She told me that 'Tom' was a bad word then told me "OMG Mom, shame on you!". My daughter lives in another universe I think.
