when i bred rats i had very extensive adoption contracts...lots of rules and it stipulated that if they could/would not keep the rat(s) that i had to be given the opportunity first to take them back.....

cant you do something like that with birds? i would...hell if i spent that much time with a baby, handfeeding and nurturing it, there is no way i would let it go to anyone without a contract...a legally binding i will take you to court if you break it contract

i think people who make up stories in forums are scum. i dont care why they lie. i dont care if they are sorry for lying.

when i was pregnant i was a member of a pregnant moms/moms of young children forum and this jerk had us believing he was a mom with a brand new baby for months
then one day "she" posted telling us that her baby...who we had all supposedly seen photos of and knew her by her first name....had died of sids

im thinking that some of these liars have some form of munchausen's

we all gave this wench pity when she said the amazon was ill and she would have to send it back to the breeder....there was much concern for her situation
for someone to fabricate such a thing around people who are obviously seriously empathetic is a sign that said person is mentally ill. period.

i minored in psychology/deviant psychology though i think i would believe the same thing regardless of my education.

I put that in the adoption contract when I adopt birds out. Honestly though, is that person lies to you and resells it, what are the chances of you finding out?

the problem with such a contract is proof..if the buyer doesn't tell you she/he rehomed the bird..how will you (the breeder) ever know...and it would be nearly impossible to enforce a sales contract across state borders..trust me, I have thought of it!

This lady said all the perfect things to make me believe that she was a perfect home for this baby...maybe too perfect I guess...

you can take the buyer to small claims court in your area...not saying it will always come to fruition but if they sign a contract thats usually what does them in - in the eyes of a civil law judge

true though you cant know all the time when someone does something with the bird...but i always worried about situations like this one

I am a perfect home for a Mitred baby... Dudley will sign a sworn statement. No... he wouldn't. He is hopelessly jealous. Ummmm....

<Goes off to watch NCIS and get snugly Dudders "drunk" on pinenuts so she can trick him into signing>
