I'm totally not meaning to say this judgementally in any way - I'm purely curious. My hubby smokes a pack a day and can't really answer my question either. :)

I completely understand how hard it is to quit - I watched my mom struggle with it my whole life, and now my husband. What I honestly don't get is, knowing all these things, why anyone would start smoking in the first place?

I was in a public school where we had a LOT of anti smoking programs, too. I really don't have an answer, I wish I had NOT started, and it makes me sad a lot of times, because I have to stop what I'm doing to go and smoke.. because i was starting to feel anxious or whatever.

I think it should be illegal, and they should make pot legal. I also think alcohol should be prohibited because it's such a nasty substance!!

wow this has gone off topic, sorry!

I have pets...I have children. Small children are WAY more destructive than almost any pet! I KNOW! LOL
I have been looking for rental properties lately since we are contemplating on moving and hardly any of these nice homes will allow pets...it is so frustrating. And the monthly payments are ridiculous. Ugh....

I definitely think like most of us said, once you can afford to care for your pet and at least meet their needs, poor or not...that is what counts. Some rich people probably don't take care of their pets like more average folks do.

If the cost of cigarettes are taking away from the care of your pet, I think that is an issue. But if you smoke and the cost doesn't significantly affect your pet's life, then go ahead.

I am not encouraging smokers but all smokers know the possible consequences so those that have made the choice, just do it away from others and always consider quitting....!
