BUT...

Halo:

You ARE allowed to buy as much treats and toys as you wish.

NO CAGES THAT ARE NOT FOR ALREADY OWNED BIRDS! And if you buy a new cage... you sell or TOTALLY DISMANTLE the old cage and store it in the roof crawlspace of your house. At the end farthest from the entry point. UNDER the insulation. It is to be a real pain to get to it. So bad that you honestly think it is more trouble than it is worth.

Nothing alive that did not leave the house that morning with her.

If she is bringing the kids... they SHOULD leave alive as well. But Having a kid of my own, I will negotiate on this point.

Nope... NOTHING NEW that requires feeding and can breath and become mobile on its own accord.

Have fun! You can get good deals on cages and toys - just don't forget to disinfect everything.

Everytime I've been to a bird fair (and I've never bought a bird from one) I see at least one miserable bird desperately needing to be helped. It always makes me so sad.

I did not say no cages. Heck... that is the main reason I GO to a bird fair! the prices are INSANELY reasonable! (That is where I got my $600-$800 macaw cage for $200!) BTW... the secret is to wait until closing time. Then they do not want to have to breakdown and pack up all those heavy cages... they would deal with the devil to save themselves the work! Of course, you DO take your chance that the cage you want will be gone by then. The one I got in 1998 was a $600 cage that he was asking $450 for at opening, willing to negotiate for $325 for older style model (different, less secure feed doors), by pack up time he told me to make any reasonable offer... so I did! LOL

Here is the rule... you must be buying the cage for one of your already owned fids. And not so you can use the old cage for a new fid.

Got it?

Yep, disinfecting is a must. We've already got plans to come in, strip, shower, and change clothes. My husband was wanting to take Minga with him to show her off and I was like #1... there will be blue and golds there I'm sure so Minga's not going to impress anyone unless they like evil birds #2... it's too dangerous to take her there because there could be diseases there that we don't know about. That's a risk I'm not willing to take with my flock.

I really think this is just gonna be an educational day for me and the joy of getting to see new things and probably drool over some babies

LOL Got it. Cages okay if for existing fids.

Actually we are supposed to go pick up a cage after the fair from a lady but it's intended for Minga and if not big enough for her, for Rudy. If we get it, whoever moves out of their cage, that cage will be given away because I don't like either cage they are in now

We're going tomorrow when they open so I won't be there when they break down. It's a three hour drive from here to Denver.
