Question! What to look for when seeing/buying bird?

So, we have finally found a bird! A one year old Sun Conure with cage/toys/food. He's been DNA'ed and is a male, and says he has been hand fed and is hand tame. He's $300 with everything.

We're supposed to go see him tomorrow sometime, and the owner said she'll meet me somewhere so I don't have to drive all the way out (hour away).

I'm just wondering what are some good things to look for when seeing him? To make sure he is in good health, has been taken care of,etc. And to make sure he is really only around a year old?

Thank you!

PS: Would it be better to just drive all the way out to their home to see him? That way we wouldn't have to worry about taking him out and him getting away and whatnot? And that way we can handle him more.

Probably best to visit in the home. Obvious things are going to be overall condition of feathers/beak etc. Also, diet. I would plan on doing a whole new bird work-up at the vet and a quarantine from any of your own birds as a matter of course. The stress of a move can cause any underlying/brewing problems to come to light. Good luck!!
