WOOO! Momma went SHOPPIN'!!!

Soooooo, I just got back from a day of last minute shopping for the big boy and the 2 little boys!

If you guys haven't found any assorted Holiday nuts in the shell yet, and you have a Hy-Vee close by....GO AND GET 'EM! I got 5 pounds of assorted nuts; Almonds, Pecans, Brazil, the big acorn looking thingys, and Walnuts! I was sooo happy to find them!

I also got a couple sweet taters, a HUGE butternut squash and and acorn squash, a little bitty seedless watermelon, some collard greens and some cilantro, an already skinned whole pineapple (that's gonna be soooo much fun!), a coconut, red green and orange peppers, some unsweetened applesauce (for adding to some malt o meal...mmmmm!) and some multi colored vegie pasta. I'm trying to buy a large variety in a small enough amount that nothing wilts or spoils. I should be getting my order of assorted Beak Appetit in any day now, too.

It's funny 'cause most of this stuff was a weekly shopping trip for my green iguana when I was rehabbing her. She had the BEST appetite for an ig! The nice thing is that I don't have to grate, finely chop, or food process most of this stuff! I can let the boys have it and dig in!!!

THEN, I got a table top perch with a cup so Tiku can hang out on the coffee table or end table with me while I'm watching TV if he wants, or so he can hang out on the counter while I'm doing dishes or what ever. I also promised the tiel boys that I would get them an activity center for the top of their new cage-playstand, so I did.
I love shopping for Fids!

Thanks for the idea. Do you happen to know how long nuts in the shell like that last? I'm thinking about stocking up.

I believe that they can last quite awhile if stored properly. I can't remember now if you need to store them in baggies in the freezer, or stored in baggies just in a cool, dry, place......ARRG! I just can't remember! LOL!
I know there are folks on here that can tell you....and me.....how long they can be stored for and how to store them!
Oh, and your Fids are DARLING!!!!!!!

Ha! That's funny. I had the same great surprise when I went shopping for Dino two days ago and found the supermarket stocked up with all sorts of nuts and exotic fruits. Had a hay day too. Even found a new reason to love Christmas, thanks to Dino :-)
