Huntress - I could show my ignorance by saying they are 'regular' budgies brought up 'english'... but i'd rather save face and admit that i have no idea whether they are english or regular (didn't know you got english and regular). Enclose pics of parents - can one tell by just looking at them? (Blushing). Thanks - again - all for kind words!

Hmmm. I've never had a budgie, PMattix. What are they like? Sweet or sour?

They look like normal budgies to me, although they do look large... English budgies have a "regal" look to them.

Here's some pictures showing the difference! The english/show/exhibition are larger than the american/pet/normals! (although all originate from Australia, and are therefore the same species)

After looking at your pics, Monica, pretty sure they are 'normal' (as normal as anything in my house can be!) The English budgies look like, what the pet shops here sell as "show budgies" - unless that's another kind all together? Thanks all.. in the end, whatever they are, normal/english/psychotic/odd - they are much loved and plenty fun to watch.

English budgies are also known as "show" or "exhibition." Normals are also called "pet" or "american." In all truth, they are australian birds! There's only one species of budgerigar, but due to some extensive breeding, we do have some larger birds, i.e. the show budgies!
