Drumroll please...... Introducing....

Look at my new addition!!!

HA HA HA!! That's right... it's a picture of NOTHING!!! And yeah, I know ohh she's just not showing us what she got I honestly and sincerely, cross my heart hope to die and all that other BS that I did not bring any birds or sugar gliders (or kangaroos) home. I did bring home two algae eaters for my fish tank tho... shame on me!!!!

The bird fair was actually a bit disappointing. It wasn't as big as I expected. There was a ton of finches and canaries. Was I tempted... well of course!! And, for the record, I only held ONE bird all day

I got to meet my first Timneh. He was a sweet heart. I got to meet a Citron too, the only bird we held, who wanted to climb down our shirts She was a real sweetheart. I also go to see a Mollucan, Triton, Goffins, and a Ducorps too. The Ducorps.... oh so gorgeous!! I also didn't know that Citrons were so tiny! I met three caiques... they were cute but not impressive. I got to see all the different parakeets, the turqousine (or however you spell it) were my favorites. I saw bourkes and rosy bourkes and and and lol. Got to see IRN's. Fell in love with a gorgeous white one. Saw lots of GCC's... none grabbed me. Saw some black capped conures too. Saw a really ugly nanday/jenday/sun cross Saw a nanday too. Saw some sun's but they were breeders. There were actually a lot of breeder birds there. Ohhhhhhhh I also got to see a Major Mitchell too. They are prettier in pictures Met my first Hyacinth macaw... oh she was a love. Also got to see the blue throat macaws, a military (so gorgous!), a calico, a couple of green wings, an itty bitty baby blue and gold, and a milligold (not as pretty as I expected either). I did get to meet a Jasper but his colors were really dull. Definitely not as pretty as the original Jasper. Saw a few CAG's... saw two baby CAG's without feathers and a TAG with just a few feathers. Saw Quakers, english budgies, ohhh and some lories. Saw an ekkie too (a girl). Saw several amazons (blue front, DYH, YL). Saw a bird I had no idea what it was and didn't ask. I think that about covers it.

No mini macaws. I was disappointed I didn't get to meet a Hanh's. Ohhhhhh... I did see parrotlets. They are itty bitty!! but they really didn't grab me. I saw white, blue, yellow, and green. Liked the yellow the best. Saw a blue mating pair that was 10 years old for $600 I did see one that I fell in love with... a not yet weaned baby that was green and he did the dance that made Tom fall in love No, I didn't put a deposit on any birds either

I did, however, spent almost $300 on toys, food, and perches between the fair and PetsMart. I found these toys I've been wanting to get for Marti that the local store here sells for $25 for $6 so I bought two. Got little wiffle ball toys with shredded paper in them and big wiffle balls with wood blocks in them, skewers for veggies and fruit, grape vine toys, tear up toys, just a bunch of stuff.

And... the lady that wanted the breeder cages we have that was going to trade us the IRN, tiel, and love bird (oh yeah LOTS of love birds too at the bird fair). She recognized us which shocked me because we only met her once over a year ago and she asked us about the cages. I told her we still had them and I saw the birds she was going to trade us (a green IRN and fischer's lovebird, she didn't have any white faced tiels there) I didn't like the green IRN, the white one was prettier. It wasn't a pretty green like Helio, it was an olive green. The fisher's are cute, but I'm not really into lovies. She also had a senegal (my first time meeting one) named Nellie who played dead and waved good bye. She was awesome. Nope, didn't get her/deposit her or nothing either but I did like her. Didn't expect to like senegals

Oh and I saw a white capped pi. Prettier than I thought from the pictures.

Ok, I think that's it. I didn't bring nada home. To be honest, I didn't see a bird that I just "had" to have. The citron, timneh, and senegal were tempting though. I resisted

Oh, and I saw a princess of whales (I think that's what they are).... holy cow are those gorgeous!!! Hubby really liked that one.

Hubby really wanted to buy me a parrotlet... but I didn't see one that was saying "take me home". Oh well!

I read you wrong. I was convinced that you would come home with something. I love the little Senegal parrots. I'm glad you got to meet one. I think I like parrots with orange on them which is interesting because neither of my goofballs have any orange. I am happy I don't have a bird fair I can get to around here. Working every weekend makes it impossible to travel to one and that's probably good. At the end of the day I am content with two, it's the beginning of the day and the middle of the day that I find myself weak for a third.

Well, somehow or someway something is going find its way to your place. I think word is out on the street that life is pretty good under your care.

I went to the bird fair close to New Orleans today, and was disappointed also.. not as many vendors. I did get toys, toy parts, a box of rope (300') to make my own get-a-grip, food. I did see a $40 Parrotlet, I thought would be great for Tom....

$40!! Wow!! The green ones I saw were $175, $300 yellow, and $400 blue.

I'd say the one we went to had maybe 30 vendors. One had cages (really expensive too), a couple had play stands/perches, and then some had birds. There were two jewelery ones that didn't have anything to do with birds

That is no fun!
Here (at the fairs) the green are like $50, blue $75-100, and the yellow & white are about $130.
The one I went to was about the same size, but it sounds like ours had better quality vendors!

Haha random jewelry vendors? Was it at least made from a SS chain, and plastic beads?!?!

Because he was the only parrotlett there unless more vendors showed up after we left.

There were TWO rehome ekkies! One was a retired successful breeder (bringing him home to my bachelorette would have been torture but he was a gorgeous 15yo red sided) and a 4yo SI. But they wanted 900 for him and we were really looking for a retired female breeder.

Shame.

Glad you got tomeet so many beebs!

The one we saw today was $10,000 but oh dear was she a beauty! I didn't ask how old she was. I also thought the military was a severe... I didn't realize militaries were so small! Also confused the Calico for a Shamrock

All in all we had fun. We were there for about five hours Then we went and had a nice lunch at Red Lobster where my waitress was hitting on me She didn't charge me for my drink and brought me out two plates of shrimp pasta to take home. Oh she gave my son a free bowl of soup too after he finished his first one and said he wanted more Like I was gonna complain!
