Using a new oven for the first time.
My dad just bought a new Whirlpool flat top electric range. The top is an Eco Friendly Creamic. I already called Whirlpool and they cannot tell me definitively if there is any teflon coating on or in the stove. I've read of birds dying the first time the stove is used. I want to protect my fids as best I can.
Unfortunately, the new stove was a surprise but mom slipped and told me so I don't have anywhere to take them. I was thinking of moving them to the basement but it's supposed to be COLD tonight! 28 - 34 degrees. The basement is just cinder block and not very insulated. Ozzy does have a heater on his cage, though. He's been used to a pretty consistent warm temp over the last few months and doesn't have much insulation. Tomorrow I could maybe move them to friend's if i had to.
Right now Ozzy is kept at the other end of the house from the kitchen. He's on the same floor but down the hall behind a closed door. Would shutting off the heating vent and putting a towel beneath the door be OK? Or should I just not worry about the new stove?
