Do you have BOTH a caique and an eclectus?

How many of you have a caique AND an eclectus?

I'm saving for another bird, and although a caique has always been my dream bird, I've recently heard about some behaviors inherent to the species that I may find less than perfect for my home and other birds.
Another bird I would consider is a female eclectus (trying to steer away from green).
I've done lots of research on both birds, but if there are those out there with BOTH, I'd really like to know which you'd choose if you were to get another, and why.
Thanks!

What is it that you're looking for in a bird, specifically? What is it that you've heard about caiques that's turning you away from them? I don't have both, but can at least answer from the ekkie side.

whats wrong with the green guys? I'm kind of biased though.

Ya you dont give much to go on for what you want in a bird, there are big differences in caiques and ekkies, so I would meet both.

If you have any questions on ekkies though feel free to ask. Land of Vos is a great place to check out too.

Thanks, guys

LOL- Oh, nothing wrong with green- I have two!

Yep- I know, a huge difference between the species. Kind of why I asked about folks who already have both.

I really like the overall personality of both, for different reasons. I love the spunky, clownish behavior and coloring of the caique. I love the comparative mellowness, talking ability, and beauty of the eclectus.

I've heard the caique can be very bossy and bird aggressive, though. I've heard the eclectus is more prone to feather plucking and stress, and hormonal issues.

Hmmm...

Well just remember that what we might have in a bird may not be in the bird that you get. I personally love both. I haven't gotten my ekkie yet, but I do want a green guy ;) I do have 2 caiques at the moment along with the rest of the bunch. But I will be getting my green guy at some point. Each have different things that I like in a bird.

I have a BHC and a male RS ekkie. You are right about the caique being bossy and bird aggressive but not all the time. My caique loves attention and always follows me around. He is a cuddler and loves to be petted. He can also say "hi rocky".

My ekkie on the other hand is not a fan of being petted though he loves to hang out with me on the couch to watch tv. He just started talking a few weeks ago and now he is a chatterbox and learning new words and phrases everyday. The hormonal issues I heard about ekkies is more on the female ecclectus and not so much with the male.

I have 3 more parrots and all of them has different personality. Goodluck on your next feathered friend.

Well in my experience Dewey is a little clumsy goof ball. He likes being petted, though he doesn’t like his feathers ruffled or his head scritchied like a too. He LOVES being the center of attention and has to be in the action.

Oh, and Dewey isn’t quiet at all, he talks up a storm, I love it, but people like my sis cant stand it. If the room is loud though he is loud.
He sounds like this: YouTube - Taj chattering

He screams to, there is a misconception with ekkies that they don’t scream, Dewey screams when he is hungry, scared, or over hyper and flying around. He is quiet compared to most, but he is no cockatiel. I’ve been talking with several people with unweaned ekkies who are looking at getting rid of theirs because of the vocalizing is why I mention it.

I’ve had no experience personally with plucking, in most cases I've seen, its often diet related, or health related. I’ve noticed this too, may just be a coincidence, but those with parents who pluck seem more likely to be pluckers.

Long story short, I love him to death, and to me he is perfect, but he isn’t completely silent and he does have his grumpy days when he doesn’t get enough sleep. But that is to be expected with all birds.
