Exclamation Safest heating source(s)?

Will someone please enlighten me on which heating sources are safe for our birds? Ours have a new room that is separated from the central heat, and we need to get some heat going. I was thinking a radiant heater might be ok; the finish on the coils (supposedly) is lead free; I just want to make sure what we use is safe.............

In the past I have successfully used a space heater that had coils inside that heated up. It kinda looks like those old timey radiators that used to sit under windows in apartments. The one that I used was marketed as 'The Incredible Heat Machine." A word of caution, if you use a type of space heater be sure to plug it in for a few days well away from your birds so that any fumes from where it was manufactured has time to blow off.

Also, it is a good idea to use a humidifier as well, as these types of heating apparatus suck the moisture out of the air and can make your birds itchy and dry skinned.

Thanks for the reply..........I was kind of worried that the coils themselves might be bad..........but if you have had success that makes me much less worried about that.........and I totally forgot about the humidifier .

We did put a LOT of plants in the room and large mirrors surrounding the lights to disperse the light by different angles......

Avitech Exotic Birds - Supplies, Equipment and Nutritional Supplements for Birds!

I can't vouch for this option but I personally am interested to try it.
