my visitor for a week.

This is shanainai, called Nay Nay. She is a 13 y/o Nanday Conure.
She is a bit nervous of course being around othe birds for the first time and that weird bald headed human keeps sticking his finger at her...........

I don't believe she has ever been taught "step up". She is a sweet heart though. Loves the scritches. Tomorrow I will see about having her out of the cage for a bit.

She's certainly gorgeous! Be careful though, you might end up spoiling her too much and she wont want to go home!!!

What is the opinion here about pet sitting services?

Or do people prefer trusted friends/family to watch their 'fids'?

I am fortunate to have family and friends who will watch my fids right here at home whenn we go away. I have ot looked into an actual pet sitter as of yet.

As for my fids reaction............. Benji of course, the ever social, wants to be buds. Zoey almost seems bummed out Nay Nay is here. She does not like sharing me with anyone. Cricket could care less. lol
What has surprised me is Sophie does NOT like me paying attention to Nay Nay at all. I'm just waiting for her to get comfortable and achieve Conure volume. I know its gonna come. lol I sure hope my fids don't pay any attention to it!!

Honestly - we just don't go on vacation. LOL We do go to the lake (about an hours drive from us) during the summer. We leave on Sat. morning and are back by Sun., early evening. I have a neighbor that comes over on Sun. mornings to check on everyone and feed the dogs/cats. I put in an extra food and water dish into everyone's cage, so she really doesn't do anything with the birds besides talk to them some and make sure they're okay. I also make new toys and put them in the cages right before we go, so they have something new to occupy themselves with.

Even though we don't really go on vacation - I do have friends/family that I can leave the birds with if something happened and I needed them to be looked after for a few days.

LOL!
Well that answers my questions!!
I kinda figured Crik & Ben would be OK with NayNay, my curiousity was about Zoe & Soph reactions.

Here's hoping the Conure doesn't get too vocal.
The last thing you want is your crew hearing is NayNay calling and thinking you since you like the newcomer so much, maybe that racket is what you really want them to be doing.....

NayNay is a pretty girl. I found that name amusing, because that is exactly what my granddaughter named me when she first started talking. It stuck, of course, and now she still calls me that at 7 years old. My husband calls me that, and Lukey calls me that too. She says, "Hey NayNay, whatcha doin?" and "NayNay,step up!" and she calls me like she's dying saying, "NaaayNaaaaay!" One time she called the long drawn out NaaaayNaaay, and when I looked, she was on her back at the bottom of the cage for extra effect.
Is NayNay an only bird? If she is, I bet she's having the time of her life at your house.
