OK, I got there around 11:00, and the first thing I did was to walk around the grounds and pick up trash, of which there really wasn't any. Did a little sweeping. Then I got to water the birds, and there are alot of birds there to water....lol. Some loved it, some flew away. The ones who loved it, came right up to the front, spread thier wings & tail, and made happy sounds. Whats funny is that as you're walking around the TOO's, watering them, or cleaning up, it's like a comedian getting heckled....LOL All you hear is 'HELLO' 'HI' 'I'M A GOOD BIRD' 'HELLO HELLO HELLO', and then of course there are the singers. "la la la la laaaaaa" I was laughing the whole time. The McCaws just scream and say "hello?" I don't know how many times I'd hear "hi" and turn around to see who was there, and of course it was a bird! LOL
The toys I made are those little chinese take out cartons, and we wrap 2 or 3 almonds in newspaper, and add a foot toy, and seal it up....great foraging toy. Well that was about it for my first day. I got to be outisde with the birds most of the day, and loved it. Every part of me aches, as I haven't done that much since my accident....LOL Got home, changed clothes, got the Pitster, went to the bathroom, and took a nice long jacuzzi soak. OH and guess who can fly a bit now? Give up.....Yes Pita. He attempted to fly to me while I was in the bath, but I caught him before he hit the water. He flew from the counter to me....my little boy is growing up. After laying on the couch with my boy, I have hobbled upstairs, and put him to bed. I was so pre-occupied with all the muscles I haven't used in 6 months, I forgot about Ricky Roo....and then when I did remember, I couldn't remember exactly were he was. So many TOO's lol Right now I am going once a week. I told the guy there that I would come in everyday to water the birds, he said he may take me up on that....I love giving birdy baths. One sweet story. I was giving love to one of the TOO's that had a naked chest. He was just hanging there, tasting my fingers, letting me rub his feet, and making the sweetest little sounds. All of a sudden he reached his little foot thru the fence, and grabbed my finger and held on. Like a baby will do. I wanted to take him home right then. If I can make them happy by just talking to them, then I will do that 8 hours a day, 7 days a week. If my body will hold out....LOL

I wish it was near me too. Toos will just make your heart melt! I remember a little girl
U2 at a birdstore near me. She would only say, "I love you." all the time. She'd just say it, and then stare at me. It's got to be hard to tear yourself away from them at the end of the day. I'm glad you're helping them. I know they can use the help.
