Do your birds play the "eye game"?

I don't know if anyone has ever mentioned this - do your birds play the eye game? The game is: Look your bird right in the eye for a few seconds, then look away or close your eyes. The bird then closes his eyes. Then you look at him, then close your eyes Then he looks at you and closes his eyes.. The game becomes to try to catch each other looking. Humphrey loves this game.

The other version is "wink back". Start by looking your bird in the eyes (not agressively, and only for a few seconds - otherwise it is initimidating). Then wink at the bird. He might wink back! Humphrey does, every time, never fails. I play that game sometimes when Humph and I don't seem to be on the same wavelength, and it brings us back to being good friends.. I got these games from a parrot book, but I can't remember which one. Just wanted to know if anyone else does it, and if not, thought I'd suggest it! It's always a way to get Humphrey in a playful mood.

I'll have to try that first one. Cory will do the wink game. We also do the side to side eye game - She turns her head and looks at me with one eye so I mirror her, then she turns her head to the other side and I mirror her. We can only do it for a couple of minutes though or she starts to get really wound up, but she loves that game. I'm trying to use that game to teach her side to side dancing.

Laura, just looked at Cory's and Zen's web pages. Cory and Humphrey have something else in common - the love of perching on mom's head! When I leave the room Humphrey often follows, landing on my head. Especially when I go to answer the phone. She also loves to perch on my husband's bare foot.

Both my birds play the eye game with me. Usually when my female, Lexi, does it, (I don't know why I don't say it for my male....)I usually follow up with "aw, 'tit bebe a mama est fatigue!!! Bien, fais les do-do si que t'est fatigue!!" (English: "Aw, mama's baby is tired! Well, take a nap if you're tired!") Maybe I say it because she's usually on one foot and fluffed up when she does it. Buddy does it just at random times. When I initiate the eye game they usually always reply, unless they're scared or upset about something.

My little Skye does both games AND one more....he will be looking at me thru one of the cage bars...when he sees me looking, he switches, and looks at me from the next bar...and I move to the next bar. Then he sees that I moved, so he goes back to the first bar, etc. etc...I love it, it's his game, he made it up. It's almost like cage-bar peek a boo, ha, ha, ha.
