Weird green cheek noise?

Banjo has been making a certain noise and I'm not entirely sure what it means. Its sort of a 3 syllable husky squark/cluck. Its no where near screaming but its rather loud. He sits in his cage making this noise repeatedly and I ignore him until he's quiet then when I give him attention he starts making the noise again. I was thinking maybe he's just interacting with me so I got him out and gave him a cuddle and he continued to make the noise while fluffing up and acting happy and cuddley. Anyone else heared a green cheek make the noise I'm talking about? Does it mean anything?

To me it sounds like baby noises. I would see if you can find any vids on youtube of baby green cheeks and see if they're making that sound. The description reminds me of how my Jenday sounded as a baby, especially when he was hungry. (Like in this vid: YouTube - Rockin Baby Lucky that's ilovetoby's baby Jenday.) Does it sound like that? Lucky does it for a long time, my bird usually did it for about 3 chirps (maybe 'cause he was older?). I don't know really, lol, that's my best guess based on the description (something he does when happy or when alone, AND it has a "husky" sound to it).

If that is what it is, it's a sound he'll grow out of. Is he totally weaned and definitely eating his solids well? Does he ever try to latch on to your finger, bob up and down, flick his wings and chirp strangely? If he does he might be hungry for handfeeding. Otherwise, I'd say it's just his normal baby sounds.

I hope this was maybe a little help... if not, sorry for the tangent.

Yeah he's eating solids and is weaned, he's currently sitting IN his fresh food bowl while eating lol. I did a youtube search for green cheek baby noises and you're right, he does sound a bit like this YouTube - 4 week old baby green cheek conure but louder and obviously older.

my baby is at least a year old now, latches ontomy fingers and bobs, flicks his wings and makes little sounds like a cross between a woof and a sigh... so i guess he might not grow out of that..

Mum and I came to the conclusion that it sounds like he's trying to say peek-a-boo (even though he almost definitely isnt because he's only 8-9 weeks old) so we've started whispering peek-a-boo to him when he does it and he's started making the same noise but more in a little gravelly whisper. Much better than when he was almost screaming it over our conversations. Another question though, I've been only giving him attention when he's quiet or just making little chattery noises but when I open his cage and ask him to step up he screams with excitement and steps up as fast as he possibly can. If I let him do this will it encourage him to scream? He's quite loud and chatty for a green cheek so I dont want to encourage screaming but it seems to just be a once off "I'm happy" scream, not like when he's begging for attention.

They CAN talk rather early. And they ARE hard to understand if you did not teach them what they are repeating!
