Red rump breeding pair aggression
I'm a new member and would need advice on my Rubino red rump pair ..
The pair is with me for more than a year and recently they started showing interest in nesting. The female spent whole day in nest for couple of weeks and male was mating. From yesterday the male is very aggressive to female and there are lot of feathers removed from female neck. Is it normal for red rump ? Please help .. The male sits on nestbox perch and chases female if it comes near. |

95% of them are.
To lessen the agression they need to be 1 pair per huge aviry with lots of foraging stuff to do,space to fly lots etc. Red rumps are one of the hardest and most agressive out of the parakeets. The only bird Bobby isn't agressive to is Meg my elderTeil. Silly bird.
